Very interesting. Olemdo is on fire, fast, and scrappy while Rich is tepid, slow, and old. Which do you play in the get away game? Rich? The more I see of Narron, the better I like him (I like the way he's handlng the pitching in conjunction with Ruhle), but that's just insane. Play Rey til he quits hitting and doing well. Please.

Of course, continuing bat Randa fifth is also kind of screwy and we've beaten Dunn's place in the order to death.

I just wonder what does Rich have over these guys? It has to be something...

The Reds have decided that to counteract the high K rate of the power guys that they must balance it out with contact hitters and "good 2 strike hitters" Problem is they give more ab's to them as opposed to breaking it up.

Good example of what they want in the number two slot (Hi Adam Dunn) is for a guy to take a few pitches if Lopez is on first, but they also want a guy to put a play on.

Hence I'm a low OB Guy but good 2 strike hitter in the number 2 slot evry day.

And continue to allow him to make a case against being sent down to AAA when Freel comes back?

If he gets limited playing time, he can be sent down because he needs to "work on things"

I have a solution to the "should-Aurilia-or-Olmedo-play?" problem. How about both? Lopez hasn't had an off-day in a while, I don't think. How about giving him a day off... even with the all-star break ahead, I mean he IS going to Detroit after all. Why not give him the last day off before that, and play Olmedo at short and The Greatest Player Ever at 2nd for today?

No reason to sit Lopez right now since he will get enough rest over the break.

It's bad enough we have to start one of them but I really don't want to work the line-up around to fit both of them in.

I will never see Olmedo as a regualr. Besides his nice start I don't see him having a future starting even though I think he will make a nice CAstro type reserve.

He was due for a rest. If you are going to rest him, better against a tough righty like Webb, than a so-so LH releiver like Goosling (sp?). Assuming you were ever going to start Olemedo over Auriila, Saturday night's matchup was the time to do it.

Doesnt Case hit into a DP every night?

Pretty much. That why the lineup we put out makes me scratch my head. Why do we place a .251 hitter with an OBP of .304 and who is not a good bunter in the 2 hole when you have Dunn (.383), Griffey (.353), Randa (.371), Pena (.314) hitting lower in the lineup.

The same is true for Casey. His OBP is .361, but he will always have the tendency to hit the ball on the ground to the left side, making for the easy DP.

Of course making sense is foreign to this franchise... :)

I would imagine it has something to do with your computer having used two different accounts to access MLB.TV, might be setting off red flags with the service (it might think, since the same computer has accessed two different accounts, that you are hacking other people's passwords and using those, or something stupid)

Did you check if you're legally allowed by MLB to watch the games on the internet? When I'm up at school in Toledo, I'm considered as being in the Reds "Broadcast radius" (in TOLEDO!) and, thus, the Reds games are blacked out for me.

Great Krono - and I don't disagree with you. The important question is not what you and I think, but what's going thru the minds of DanO and the rest of the FO? My guess is 2006 is not going to be pushed on to the Reds fans as a rebuilding year and that's precisely why I think the FO may think Milton could be a key cog in next season's plans, esp. if he continues to pitch like he has the last few starts.

I absolutely think it's possible that DanO holds onto Milton, thinking it was Gullet's mismanagement or bad hoodoo or whatever. Yes. Which is awful. But it may not even matter in the long run, as I suspect nearly every team would have avoided Milton and his contract at the trading deadline.

"The best offense in the National League" let us down today, but hitting with RISP has been a problem (no, I'm not Marty) with this team. We must gain our tremendous statistics in blowout games because we weren't facing Cy Young out there. Lefthanders give this team problems.

Eric Milton pitched a good game, allowing two runs in 6.2 innings--all we can ask of a pitcher and in most cases with most teams it would be a winning game, but not here.

You've heard of teams that find ways to win. The Reds find ways to lose. Good pitching=no hitting. Bad pitching=plenty of runs. Unknown lefthander=loss. 4-3 in the last 7 games. At least it was interesting.
