whats the fearless prediction for Milton today? I say he gives up a two run and a solo, but that is IT! :D

I predict his 4th QS in a row...

RedFanAlways1966

Eric Milton's last 3 starts...

19IP, 16H, 7ER, 16K, 3BB, 2HR, 3 quality starts.
3.31 ERA, 1.00 WHIP.

If he keeps that up for the rest of the season, I'll eat a Red Swingline stapler.

And it won't be pretty.

When was the last time he pitched at home? IIRC, his most impressive starts have come on the road.

According to yesterday's notes, the Reds' record for games without a complete game in a season is matched today. If Milton does not go all the way, the Reds will have yet one more record factoid about how horrendous this staff has been.

MWM

His last three starts have come against Arizona, San Franciso, and Houston...very average to below average offenses. Colorado is the worst offense in the NL away from home. So I think there's a good chance he has another good outing. If he can somehow not be exposed in his next start against the Cubs, and then pitch well in his following outing against a very bad Dodger offense, that will put us at the trading deadline. I still don't think any team, even the desperate teams, will be dumb enough to trade for him, but if he does pitch well in his final 3 starts before the deadline, I'd be pushing hard to unload him. I'd even be willing to pick up a good portion of the salray remaining on his contract just to free up a little cash.

How many times does Casey have to roll the ball to first base and hit into a double play will it take for some idiot with this team to realize that he does not need to be batting at the top of the order?

This just frustrates me to no end.

...or until Chambliss or SOMEBODY else identifies that there is a flaw in his plate approach that causes him to keep hitting balls to the SAME spot on the infield with alarming regularity.

GB/FB ratio of over 2-1 now...and it's been an AWFULLY long time since I can remember Casey shoot a ball into the gap opposite field.

WVRedsFan
07-16-2005, 07:31 PM
Tell me if this makes any sense. We all know that Casey can hit. He's proven he's a great doubles hitter. Does anyone besides me think he has very poor plate discipline? He seems to hack at anything and sometimes is too impatient. The pitch he rolled into that double play (I say rolled because it was just like he took his hand and rolled it like a bowling ball to the first baseman) was tailor made for the roller to first.

Or am I just crazy?

The pattern is clear. Start any lefthander against us that we haven't seen, have the pitchers rely on their somewhat fastballs, and you're losing 3-0 in the fourth inning. Never fails.

Milton must have heard their guys were all from AAA. He was throwing straight down the middle. Reminder to Eric...other team's AAA players can hit.

You're right, Cuban has lots of respect for his fans and his players, plus, he is willing to spend cash to get the best coaches/training staff etc. etc. for his teams.
