That wasn't a caller, Chip my boy....the genius that threw that idea out there was none other than the host of the show...Alan Cutler.

It only took 100 games to put a good looking lineup together. Now with a little luck by 2007 they might realize that pitching is what gets you to the playoffs and wins championships.

Vin Scully just said that Lopez had a "terrible" Spring Training this year.

Uh...Vin? Um...

Scully probably read this recent article by Hal to prepare for his broadcast

"The Reds were so concerned about Lopez that veteran Rich Aurilia was signed in the offseason, something to tuck in the envelope, just in case Lopez was the 2004 Lopez. Making it worse, young shortstops Ray Olmedo and Anderson Machado had offseason surgeries.

It was Lopez, Aurilia or die. And Lopez died in spring training, so Aurilia began the season as the shortstop."

http://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/content/sports/reds/daily/0727redsplug.html

Never mind the truth: Lopez and Aurilia had similar spring performances. And that the "2004 Lopez" was pretty darn good during the 2nd half of the season

What's the problem with Kearns' AB?

I don't see how it was ugly or whatever.

It was an eight pitch at bat, he fouled off some tough pitches, took some close ones. The whole time I was thinking to myself that it was a good one.

I don't know much, so I'm probably wrong.

One pitch and we're out of the inning--two runs later.

Will Narron ever learn? Did Miley? Did Boone?

Sorry, I miss old Captain Hook. You ain't got it, you're history. The philosophy of recent managers has been to react too late to save a game. Bloops or not, it's runs and like the man above me said, Matt is far too hittable these days. Save him for mopup work until further notice.

Belisle simply needs experience, and to do better on the road. Typically, most of your middle relievers aren't going to miss a ton of bats. Sometimes bad luck is bad luck. He ran into alot of it tonight, as have the Reds during road trips. When you have a 31-25 record at home but can't do nothing on the road to at least have the team 5 games below 500, that is bordering on mental.

When specific players can make it effective, like Freel, I love it added into the offensive punch. Like OBM said, a .400ish OBP and an 83 percent success rate stealing bags ... ideal leadoff hitter and I love Freel running around the bags doing his thing.
