IBCK's been around Redszone off and on for a long time. So I don't think the guy's necessarily making anything up--maybe some confusion over whether he heard it as a rumor or a finished trade--but I really don't think the guy's just lying to get a rise out of people.

I would welcome the fake Mets trade but would cry a thousand tears if Dunn is traded...

Davies and Langerhans maybe, but why would they go after Betemit. He's a SS and 3B, two positions well filled for the Reds future.

I hope this isn't true though.

The link at BP lists the station as ESPN 990 and currently they are doing the NHL draft. ESPN 950 out of Indianapolis has their Gameday show on. You can stream this over the internet here.

no thanks. ive been one who has said trade dunn if you can get 3 or 4 great prospects back. this isnt it. im not high on davies like some are. betemit or edwin would then have to be traded(the more trades oboring has to make, the more mistakes he will make) and langerhans is just not enough either

Yep, and baseball's starting so I'm giving up. Personally, I don't think Dunn's going to be traded but if he is, it will be a multiple team deal. I have a hard time believing one team would give up all it would take to get Dunn. Just my two and only cents worth on any possible trades involving Dunn.

i think if dunn goes, it will be over the summer. ive heard recently many teams say its better to trade hitters in the summer, they have more value, while pitchers have more value at the deadline. so you either sign dunn lt or you trade him in the summer

I tell you, I have never cried over a sporting event that I have not participated in, but if the Reds trade Adam Dunn, I think I just might.

If anyones interested, any players traded after 4:00 p.m. EST Sunday will have to clear waivers before hand. Only 21 hours and 36 minutes left.

This is from the CBS boards which is notorious for made up trades. People over there get their kicks from seeing if they can fool people into believing their junk.

He did and Betemit pinch hit for him in the bottom of the 6th and stayed in to play 3rd. Here's the line on Davies.

I think that I would trade anyone on the team for him, straight up, except Dunn or Lopez.

Dunn was on the pregame. He said that DOB told him that unless some unbelievable trade offer came in, he is staying put.

I don't think I would just offer up anyone in a trade for the guy. I'd be patient and study my options first. I'd check my binders and then I'd think about it some more. After all of that, I'd be more inclined to dump payroll on the Braves than I would be willing to trade EdE for Davies, perhaps Casey.

The following is from BP's 2005 book.

Live arm, good K rates, not much else. His stuff is more marginal than you'd think considering his strikeout numbers. His mechanics have been overhauled several times, and he has trouble repeating his delivery. Davies probably has major surgery somewhere in his tea leaves.

That BP stuff on Davies is junk. His mechanics were overhauled once and it gave him 3-4 MPHs on his fastball and made his delivery much easier and freer. The better write up on Davies is in the top 100 list in BP on which Davies is ranked 47th.

As a Braves fan I'll give you a short write up on Davies. He throws a fastball around 93 MPH which he can spot. When he muscles up on it, he can hit 94 or 95. As he matures I expect his fastball will add an MPH or maybe even two. He throws a curveball which is decent. He had a good one tonight but I've seen it be pretty mediocre on other nights. But the thing that makes him special is his change up. It's nasty and will only get better. It comes in in the low 80's and at the same arm action as his fastball. As he matures, not only will his pitches improve, his use of them will improve also. He's a smart pitcher right now but he'll learn more as he matures. Davies is also a bulldog. He is a very competitive pitcher that will battle on the mound. The Braves love this about him. He projects as a top notch number 2 starter and perhaps more than that. The problem for the Reds is that Davies is likely untouchable. There really isn't a need great enough for the Braves to justify trading Davies.
