Only by spurts. The Reds can look awesome at times and really anemic others. Tonight is one of the anemic times.

The strike outs are due to the type of team the Reds are. They are big swingers, which clearly leads to high strikeout totals - but it also leads to a great deal of runs scored. Also when an offense is leading a league in runs, it can't be blamed for losing. The terrible pitching is the culprit, not the k totals. What are they supposed to do, average 6 runs game just to overcome the awful pitching???

Sadly our great offense isn't as good as our horrible pitching is bad. There's no argument that has solid stats behind it pointing to the Reds' offense as a cause for it's losing season. It's purely pitching, and I don't understand how you can justify arguing otherwise.

The ball got away from the catcher. Stevie Wonder could have scored, with no help from the third base coach.

He stayed put at third.

He did score, eventually, though. But he could have scored easily on that play.

If by lack of defense, you mean we have no one positioned in the 10th row of the outfield seats, I would agree.

However, management has deemed it unwise to spend money on tickets for our outfielders.

When I said defense, I was referring to both the fielding and pitching of the Reds. Both acting to stop production from their opponents offense - and doing a poor job of it in the case of the Reds.
