Except for Rich "If I Whine Enough Maybe I'll Play More" Aurillia being anywhere.

Play the kid every day. And, if not him, play Ray Olmedo (who might actually be with this ballclub next year, as opposed to Rich).

Not that I am owner of this gamethread or anything of the like, but I do have 1 VERY BIG request: Can we keep the indepth discussion of players and anything else non-game related out of here?

After my DVR dying last night, I had to come in here to "watch" the game. The first few innings were great and then, BOOM, no more game thread. It was entirely about the merits of Austin Kearns. Hey, I'm all for the discussion. But we have 2 boards that work for that. The gamethreads are for following and cheering on/bemoaning the game. Can we please keep this in mind?

Sadly, I had to get rid of Direct TV until we get our house  Cox in the mean time...it's fixed now though.

I can not wait for tonight's game...moreso than normal. Not sure why, but I am. Feeling very good about the game tonight. Oh, and my Cowboys are on TV after the game ends as well. Happy guy :D

I'm not trying to gripe, but when I miss the game, I know I LOVE coming home and "watching" it thru the gamethread. If you look at last night's game, it goes from up a run in the 6th, I think, to "great job Weathers getting those K's with the basesloaded!"

Just trying to be considerate for all concerned is all. Am I alone here wanting to be able to follow the game in the game thread?

What was the point of calling EE up if he is only going to play 4 or 5 games a week?

You don't see Bobby Cox benching Jeff Francoeur and Kelly Johnson twice a week. Rickie Weeks doesn't sit twice a week.

The Reds don't know how to handle young players. We have to bench our young guys so that crybaby can get his way.

Hey, I agree that I want EdE in there, BUT if Rich is gonna play, at least he has him batting 8th. Maybe there is something more than what we know? Did EdE tweak something (I wouldn't know, nothing mentioned in the gamethread :p: ). Just sayin' ;)

I was in chat last night. There was plenty of score and inning traffic there. I didn't see any of the chatters in the game thread when I checked it later. Personally, chat hogs so many resources on my system it works better when I don't look at the board in a separate window.

They showed a graphic on the Milwaukee feed on Extra Innings that shows that since Vern Ruhle took over as pitching coach, the Reds ERA has dropped by 0.6. That's pretty significant.

BA is up as is runs. Good job for the Jerry and Vern show.

This is much fun!!

Man. Standridge has been super impressive this year, for as much fun as I poked at him earlier in the year. Just lights out, and where is it coming from????
Is this the same guy that had a 5+ ERA in AAA this year?

He was a starting pitcher before coming to the Reds. One of the scouts said he would be better out of the pen, they gave it a shot and its been working out.

They just said before he has the Reds longest scoreless streak this year.

He sucks, or at least that's what the experts keep telling me. Personally, I like any pitcher who doesn't give up runs. :)

0-5, 6.38 ERA, 1.71 WHIP in 67 innings in his MLB career.

3.85 ERA, 1.38 WHIP in 912 IP in his Minor League career.

And he'll be 27 this year. Just doesn't match up in my small little head.

The Reds are doing better because they are beating on the average-below average teams like they were supposed to do all year. Remember that Edskin 19 game period in the spring when we went 10-9 against these types of teams? Now we are going 15-4. About time.

Didn't say that, but with the nucleus of this team with Narron, the bullpen and starting rotation coming around and winning, esp' on the road looks good for next year. We have the hitting, and Vern looks like has turned the pitching around, how many "Q" starts now in a row, seven? So why are so many so negative? Hell, sometimes I think if the Reds won 160 games someone on this board would ***** we should have won 162. Example, don't play RA, bat this person third or fifth etc. Frankly I get sick of all the negative posts. Sorry for my rant, I could go on and on but won't.

KronoRed

We have the hitting but this is the same pitching that tanked in the first half, no pitching coach on earth can make them into a playoff caliber rotation, IMO we are still 3 GOOD starters away from being ready for next year.

I love that we're winning, but I don't think we've turned a corner yet.
