Yep. I really can't stand managers who try to "let the guy win''. If he doesn't have it, he doesn't have it, if he's down 3-0 or up 8-4.

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Noah Lowry pitched into the ninth and helped his cause with an RBI single during a three-run fifth, as the San Francisco Giants defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 3-2, in the third of a four- game set at Great American Ball Park.

Lowry (9-11) was brilliant on the mound, allowing just two runs on seven hits in a season-high 8 1/3 frames. Lowry was bidding for the complete game, but was pulled by San Francisco skipper Felipe Alou after he suffered what appeared to be a blister on his left hand after striking out the Reds Ken Griffey Jr., to start the ninth.

The young hurler fanned seven and showed great control on the mound with just one walk.

J.T. Snow and Jason Ellison each drove in a run while Randy Winn and Omar Vizquel each collected a pair of hits for the Giants, who have won the first three of this series after a two-game slide.

Cincinnati starter Luke Hudson (4-6) lasted just 4 2/3 innings after he allowed three runs on four hits to get tagged with the loss. He fanned three with three walks for the Reds, who have dropped four in a row on the heels of a five-game winning streak.

Austin Kearns and Griffey each drove in a run, while Felipe Lopez had three hits in the loss.

Trailing 2-0, San Francisco gained the lead for good thanks to a three-run fifth.

Ray Durham drew a leadoff walk, hustled to third on Todd Linden's double, and then scored on Ellison's sac-fly to center. One-out later, Lowry's single to center plated Linden. After Winn singled, Vizquel was plunked and the bases were loaded. Hudson then forced in a run when he issued a walk to Snow, staking the Giants to a 3-2 lead.

The Giants threatened to add to their lead in the ninth after they loaded the bases with one away. However, Kent Mercker worked himself out of the jam by inducing Durham into an inning-ending double play.

Cincinnati made things interesting in the ninth when they put the tying run on first with two away in the ninth. Sean Casey, though, drove a deep drive to center that was snagged by Winn to help LaTroy Hawkins nail down his second save as a Giant and sixth overall in 2005.

The Reds cracked the scoreboard with a run in the first. Rich Aurilia singled with one away, moved to third on Griffey's single, and then scored on Kearns' sac-fly to right for the 1-0 lead.

Cincinnati added another run in the third. Three straight singles by the Reds to start the frame loaded the bases. Griffey then lifted a sacrifice fly to right that scored Hudson, who helped his cause with a leadoff single to center, making it 2-0.
NOTES:
The Reds, who are in the middle of a seven-game homestand, are 33-32 at home this season...These squads split four games at SBC Park from July 4-7. San Francisco leads this series, 11-8, since the start of the 2003 campaign...Linden ended with a career-high three hits for the Giants.
