One plus of Narron, except for batting Casey fifth, is that he doesn't seem to have a need to tinker with the lineup.

Narron has done a much better job of defining roles for players and pitchers since taking over from Miley. Dave seemed to have a different plan for every day.

I know there is some stat somewhere that says that was a good at bat, but it wasn't. You have to drive the run in there.

It all depends on how many runs Hernandez gives up, because he can throw about 150 pitches a game if needed.

Casey has made some awful baserunning mistakes this year. You would think someone who has been in the league as long as Casey has would actually know how to run the bases by now.

Claussen has been pretty good this year. You aren't going to trade Aaron Boone or Jose Guillen for #1 starters, so it seems that Kullman and co did a pretty decent job in 03. I know some wanted more for Boone but it wasn't happening.

Hernandez has allowed 14 Reds to reach base through 6 innings. Talk about some awful situational hitting these past 2 games - it's ridiculous that we're stuck at 2 runs right now.

Claussen has been pretty good this year. You aren't going to trade Aaron Boone or Jose Guillen for #1 starters, so it seems that Kullman and co did a pretty decent job in 03. I know some wanted more for Boone but it wasn't happening.I would take Claussen any day of the week over Aaron Boone. That isn't even a contest.

I switched to ESPN's gamecast because CBS kept getting behind. The graphics aren't as good on ESPN but at least it keeps up with the game.

Granted it's RFK and it's the Nats, but that's pitching. Getting big outs and working around the best hitters in a lineup.

Wow I feel really stupid. I just glanced & saw that on gamecast without taking into account the other at bats in the game. He was 4-11 with 4 HRs against him going into today. So now I guess he's 7-15 with 5hrs against him.

The difference between Shack and Standridge is that Shack has numbers that correspond more closely to his ERA. Standridge was bound to slip, which he did. Now, I'm not sure it will last regardless, based on Shack's minor league numbers.

The .192 opposing batters are hitting against him would suggest that there is a very good chance he may sustain this success in the future. I doubt he will continue to be THIS effective, but the fact that hitters struggle just to put solid wood on him leads me to believe he will be a very solid member of this bullpen the rest of this year and leading on into 2006.
