All right. The Reds are undefeated in at least 3 tries when I have started a game thread. I figure with Roy Harvey Oswalt going tonight, the Reds need all the mojo they can get.

It's honorable Chip. I'm banking on Houston double-digits and a Reds goose-egg myself. This team's going got going.

Appearently Kearns is batting 2nd:

Gallows humor

HOUSTON -- Give the Reds credit for at least having a sense of humor about their impending matchup with Roy Oswalt, who has won more games against them without a loss (14) than any other big-league pitcher ever against one opponent.

When the beat writers walked into Jerry Narron's office this afternoon, he feigned surprise that we bothered to show up, having written the story so many times already.

"I figured you were going to Atlanta tonight, knowing who was pitching," said Narron. "I appreciate y’all coming."

Hey, might as well.

The one new wrinkle in the lineup is Austin Kearns batting second for the first time in his big-league career.

"Oswalt’s pitching, so I don’t think it’s a matchup thing," said Kearns.

In fact, his .222 average (6-for-27) against the right-hander is one of the better numbers among Reds regulars.

Wasn't there a brief period where Narron consistently had only two basic lineups, one to oppose righthanded starters and one to oppose lefthanded starters, and he just made minor tweaks game to game depending on injuries, scheduled days off, etc? Booneism must set in after two months on the job.

I like him better batting 4th or 5th, but whatever, as long as he's getting plenty of PT.

Dunn is still on pace to become the first Reds player to ever have consecutive seasons of 100+ runs, 100+ walks and 100+ runs batted in.

Dunn currently has 92 runs, 92 walks and 87 RBI. On pace for 112 runs, 112 walks and 106 RBI.

By the way, Dunn is only on pace for 161 strikeouts this year, 34 less than last season. Yet his batting average, slugging and OPS is slightly lower than 2004. I thought if Dunn cut down on strikeouts his batting average would go up? ;)

But seriously...I think Dunn will hit for a higher average next season, and as a result, his OBP and SLG will rise. I wouldn't be surprised to see him OPS over 1.000 next season.

For the last month Adam has done exactly what Marty Brennamen and Our very own BF have always wanted him to do. Swing at pitches he can't drive
he's making contact but what good has that done.

Adam Dunn and FeLo are much more productive when they are selective at the plate.

I doubt that Marty or Badfundamentels will ever admit that. ;)
