I am now fully convinced that Narron doesn't look at stats when filling out lineups. Dunn is 3 for 5 with two doubles and a homerun in his career vs Horacio Ramirez. Instead of sitting him against Petitte a few days, who owns Dunn - they bench him against a guy that Dunn has always hit well.

BTW, Hal McCoy says Ortiz will be back next season. O'Brien should be tarred and feathered outside the GAB if he brings back Ortiz.

Man, this team is frustrating to watch. Not only does the pitching staff stink, but now the offense is slumping.

Dunn is now taking the Pena approach at the plate of swing at everything. He got ahead in the count 2-0...and swung at a slider in the dirt. Did the same thing on the 3-2 pitch. EE took a strike right down the middle and then chases strike three out of the zone.

Francoeur is significantly worse versus RHP. Belisle is worlds better versus RH hitters (.667 OPSA vs. RH, .935 OPSA vs. LH). Pitching to Langerhans instead means giving up the RH/RH matchup and loading them up where a BB can score the winning run. Francoeur was the better matchup regardless of how overrated he is right now.

Hmn. That's another odd move (Narron's 2nd in two nights).

It was odd - but a good one nonetheless. LaRoche was lost so to pitch to him was a good move. Francoreur is smoking the ball (and the Reds pitchers) so walking him to set up a force anyone even though its righty righty, well, I liked it. And to take a chance lefty righty with Langerhauns, well, I liked that matchup better then Belisle-Francouer.

Of course, just my opinion, and if it didn't work, well I still would have liked it.

Braves fan here. This loss kind of hurts since we were so close to winning it in the 11th. Pitching to LaRoche was a good call. That guy is killing us. He hasn't seen the ball in about 2 months.

But I'd also like to potentially thank you guys. Shelling Kolb could end up being huge for us. Hopefully you guys have just gotten him released. I think I can speak for all Braves fans in saying that we would gladly trade a win for Dan Kolb's head on a silver platter. With any luck, everyone ends up happy today. You guys win and we get rid of Kolb who is perhaps the most despised Brave in history. At the very least you guys pretty much blew his chances of pitching in any meaningful way in the post season. So, thanks.
