I agree with the previous comments about Denorfia. It seems to me they he has done well with the looks he has gotten but they haven't given him nearly the number of looks they seemed to indicate they probably would.

Sort of reminds me of the line you hear from (the losing) football coaches after the game, "Well we went in looking to get the ball to Billy Bob a lot more but we just did not see the situations to do it" My response, who was calling the plays (making out the line up card)-??

The best thing for the 2006 Reds is a different CF. If I had my druthers, Pena and Casey would be gone and Jr moved to 1B. Seems to me that Denorfia has a chance to be a younger and better version of Brady Clark.

Booker actually got to pitch yesterday, and did fine. It seems as though the Reds are determined to give Simpson an opportunity to make the 2006 Reds (he's going to the Arizona Fall League after the year, and, you know, ACTUALLY GETTING WORK); I can't say that Booker will have that opportunity for certain.

And agreed on the Denorfia/Cruz issue; the Reds have far more to gain by starting Denorfia. But this is the same team that chose Randy Keisler for the starting rotation over Justin Germano, Elizardo Ramirez, Matt Belisle, AND about two or three other younger, higher-upside pitchers.

The Reds may be starting Milton, but the Brewers have Gary Glover and his 6.47 ERA and 70 hits allowed in 55.2 innings to counter. Maybe we'll get some more pinball scores today.

Glover had been demoted to AAA since May, and just returned to make two starts after the PCL playoffs. He allowed three runs in six innings to St. Louis his last time out. He hasn't done much else in his big-league career beyond a couple of mediocre years as a swingman in the American League.

But he's off to a fast start, punctuating a 1-2-3 first with a swinging K of Dunn.

I don't think they should have ever let such a fundamentally sound player go for nothing, but a player with Clark's background is usually not much of a bet to ascend to the spot that Brady has. My point was there are two sides to every story and just because Dunn struck out three times (now 4) doesn't mean he didn't try.

You'd be the first person who would blame the Reds if Pena, Casey, or Griffey got hurt worse. What would your reaction be if they went out there and got hurt and missed all next season? You'd blame O'Brien and Narron and you would be on here saying they should get the boot for it. There is no reason to risk further injury when the games don't affect the Reds chance of the playoffs.

You can count on, for he last 3 years, that Casey...Griffey...Kearns... and Pena will all go down sometime during he year.

It does not matter if it's not their fault....or they are not playing hard enough..or trying..... they just go down on some freak or stupid injury.

Dunn is as lucky in that respect as those 4 are un-lucky....or in some cases brittle.
