Sparky thought he was too "High Strung" :confused: Yet he kept Pedro Borbon around for his entire tenure as Reds manager!

After the 1975 season, the Reds had 3 pitchers who were out of options....Andujar, Pat Zachry, and Santo Alcala. As Pat Zachry told the story, Andujar was the most talented of the bunch but had a hard time getting along with his teammates and coaches. In fact, at Indianapolis in 1975 Ray Knight damn near killed him in a locker room fight. Andujar even alienated Tony Perez and Dave Concepcion in spring training with his attitude, and that was hard to do. Zachry said that every time Andujar won a game, he and Alcala would hear from pitching coach Larry Shepard how they were damn lucky that Andujar was such a jerk or that one of them would not be there.
