I'm in the 4 "U's" followed by an "O" camp, too. There will be bright spots in the 2006 season, but not in these areas.

Okay gang...under or over?

Reds wins..........81

Griffey HRs.........38

Dunn HRs...........44

Attendance.......2.25 million

Team ERA..........5.00

Wins: Under -- I'm figuring, unless they magically pull better pitching out of their hats, this teams is good for maybe 70 wins.

Griffey HRs: Under -- If he stays healthy (which he won't), he'll be good for no more than 35.

Dunn HRs: Under -- His career high is 46, and he's probably good for about 40 this year, but no more. I don't bet on a guy going 3 straight seasons without missing more than 3 games.

Attendance: Under -- What...you really want to pay to watch Eric Milton pitch every 5th day?

Team ERA: Over -- 6.00 or bust!

Reds wins..........81 --- Under, I'll call 74

Griffey HRs.........38 --- Under, that only happens with 550 AB

Dunn HRs...........44 --- Over, 48 is my guess

Attendance.......2.25 million --- Over (barely) New ownership increases marketing efforts and pushes hard for increased attendence

Team ERA..........5.00 --- Under (barely), Milton won't be as bad for as long and the bullpen got about 300 IP from guys with a collective ERA over 7.00. That won't happen again.

Under. Way Under. Try 70
Griffey HRs.........38
Under. He's only good for 400 AB's
Dunn HRs...........44
I'm going over - this is the year he hits 50
Attendance.......2.25 million
Are you talking Paid Attendance? I'm voting over if it includes Freebies
Team ERA..........5.00
Over. Suddenly I feel like a Rockies Fan. (All 4 of them.)

Reds wins..........81 Under. Unless you count the first two months of the 2007 season

Griffey HRs.........38 Under. Just not feeling good about this World Baseball thing.

Dunn HRs...........44 Under. Sorry hon, but I think the move to 1st is going to have you a little off balance at the plate too.

Attendance.......2.25 million Under. See first answer.

Team ERA..........5.00 Over. Way over.

I do!

I'm just about at that point in the off-season where I begin to lose track of facts and become delusional. In fact I'm going to head even further out on that limb and say that the Reds may battle it out for third place in the division. I know, I know, shoot high.

The last three seasons should tell us that the ERA will be over 5.00--but I've got a hunch that Castellini is going to try to stanch the bleeding by trading for or signing another slightly "name" pitcher who will help force Milton out of the rotation. Which should help bring down the team ERA somewhat. But then there's the bullpen...:barf:

Where exactly are you going to put Milton then? You're not going to pay him the last $20M on his contract to release him and there surely aren't many trading partners knocking down the doors to get to Milton.

Like it or not, he's in the rotation until October 2007.

The best we can do it hope and pray that he has a turn-around season and gets back to some level of respectibility.

So the brand spankin' new owner is going to sit back and be "patient" while his fans head for the exits in the 5th inning during his home starts? That's a bang-up way to do business. Hell, that's even more cynical than I can conjure.

Eric Milton isn't just a bad pitcher, he's an emblem, the very golden Apollo, of failure--if DanO wants to keep his head, he'll find somewhere to hide Milton (mop-up) posthaste. That is, of course, unless Castellini isn't as "impatient" as we all hope.

Nope, we still have the same people...Dorothy, Toto, The Lion, Scarecrow, and the Tin Man still might have a better Team ERA than the Reds.

Nah...Dorothy throws like a girl. The Lion is not intimidating enough. Scarecrow has elbow and shoulder problems and Tin Man has problems with his mechanics.

Alright you guys got it, I am going to be the eternal optimist! As the season starts I see the desire from these guys playing all out for a new FO that is determined to win.

Okay gang...under or over?

Reds wins..........81- 84 wins (most of which prior to AS Break)

Griffey HRs.........38- 41 HR's (The big reason we win 84)

Dunn HRs...........44- 38 (With more 2B's)

Attendance.......2.25 million- Winning brings fans (2.6 Mil)

Team ERA..........5.00 - Push right out 5.00

This might make me look like I don't know what I'm talking about, but that's not the case. I understand the talent level suggests that we cannot reach these goals, that is if we envision a normal season of ups and downs and still are able to win this much. However I am thinking that we might just play same level throughout. The factors I am taking into consideration are a mediocre NL this year, a fresh approach by the organization (an actual commitment to the players, that they have seemed to buy into) and lastly I think we are due for a little luck or good Kharma for a change!

But if not i'll a take a top 3 pick in next years draft! ;)
