Please delete this if someone posted this, and I missed it.

It's a headline at espn.com. I don't have an insider account, so I don't know the details.

ESPN says it is down to Krivsky, Beattie and Wren. Krivsky considered the favorite.

It is saying that peter gammons is reporting that a few sources have told him that Krivisky Beattie and Wren are the ones left and that they should name the GM by this weekend.

Well, he got two out of three. Let's hope the choice is one of the two.

If Gammons is the source then it could be none of them.

Although, it would appear that they are close to the mark and it means that RCast has decided to hire from "outside the organisation". I don't think you can call Beattie a RED. Maybe he thought Kullman would have enough on his plate dealing with the queries from Redszone. :)

I've been on the fence about Krivsky. I get the feeling we're about to find out what kind of GM he would make. I can see the potential for this being a good choice; I'm just not certain. I don't know enough about him to make a definite judgment, I guess.

He's someone I can have a positive attitude about, at least.

I like Wren, but I think I'd be okay with Krivsky too.

How do things that are not supposed to "get out" get leaked to the press and especially to ESPN? Obviously, someone (or multiple someones) inside the organization are not trustworthy.

If I was the head honcho (Castellini), that would make me very angry.

They don't necessarily get leaked from the inside. The team starts telling folks they are not the person. If they are outside the org, there is certainly no leverage for them to keep their mouths shut so they tell someone (maybe even their current boss) who tells someone etc. a reporter can then stitch these pieces together to start to form an idea.

Now in this case where half the candidates were insiders, you'd think they might do a better job of keeping mum when they are told they are out of the running. However, maybe they read that as the writing on the wall they will be clear out soon and so they tell folks (or maybe call someone looking for a job). A reporter gets a whiff, makes some calls and there you go again. Still it is not blantant leaks per se.

*Reads McCoy-Beattie thread, shudders in disgust*
Ahh, this is much better here. Even if it's a lie, the lie is good in this case and will help me fall asleep easy tonight.

Seriously, I can live Krivsky or Wren (not my top choices but ranked high enough). I know it's been said 100 times if it's been said once on here, getting Beattie is like getting a new car that is no better than your current one, but hey it's got an awful nice new coat of paint on it, that has to count for something.

I posted all of Beattie's work over on that thread. Hard to say what Krivsky brings to the table, as he's only ever been an assistant GM, but I'll provide links to the transactions for every team that he's worked for in case someone wants to research. Again, it is hard to say what input he had on those teams.

I'd rather have an assistant with some success then a GM who has had little success anywhere.

1360 Homer is reporting that Wayne Krivsky will be named the new GM tonight at 6 p.m. They said it was no joke.

Never doubt ESPN! They are the WorldWide Leader.

Kidding.

Hal MCoy just lost a lot of credibility after saying Beattie was going to be the GM.

He didn't really have any to lose IMO.

It's funny, I just saw today's Dayton Daily News with Beattie's picture on the front page with the words "The New GM" beside them.
