This comes from a Washington Nationals fan but a good bit of it revolves around JimBo's Cincy days. I'm not quite sure what conclusion to draw from all of his efforts and admittedly neither does the writer but it does seem that JimBo does draw fire no matter where he goes.

I heard (from someone who knows minority owner Bill Reik) that it got to the point where none of the owners aside from Lindner wanted to entrust Bowden with any signifigant amount of money. Now one might say, why didn't Lindner just give it to him, but he couldn't without support. If Bowden went out and saddled the club with a big financial commitment and it tanked, Lindner would be liable to the other owners for hurting the value of the team. In any event, I also think Bowden liked to re-invent teams every year--not good for team spirit, but good for JimBo ego. Long term contracts make it harder to make sweeping changes to a roster.
