I think Marcos Vechionacci should be starting for Italy instead of Frank Menechino.

Then you find out he's from Ozzie Guillen's home country.

One constant about all these lineups so far is the 2nd guy seems to be "contact man", I have a hard time seeing Lopez being that guy.

Freel grounds to short on the first pitch.

Aurilia. Gets ahead 3-0 and later walks.

Encarnacion, batting third (!). Rocket foul down the LF line. LONG DRIVE TO LEFT OUTTA HERE 2-0 REDS JUMPED ALL OVER A 1-2 PITCH HIS THIRD HOMER IN TWO DAYS

Ahem.

Dunn. High routine fly to RCF, two down.

Kearns. Down two strikes. Couple of fouls. Struck him out with a low pitch to end the inning.

Bottom of 1.

Cairo. Sharply-hit grounder to Freel. One out.

Cano. Grounder to short, backhanded but no throw. Infield hit.

Sheffield. Grounder to short- Aurilia to Freel for the force, but Ryan drops the ball and there's no DP. Two down.

Giambi. 2-2 count. Jason is nicked on a pitch up and in puts him on.

Matsui. Lines a single to right, but Kearns charges and comes up throwing, forcing a hold. Bases loaded.

Posada. Called strike one. Ball. Outside, ball two. Couple of fouls. Check swing runs the count full. Whiffed him on a high fastball out of the strike zone!

2-0 Reds after 1.

Lets not forget EE was one of the most impressive (if not the most) last spring, and he bit a big weiner during the season.

It makes me sick that a player like EdE could possibly play himself into the lineup when he cleary belongs on the bench learning how to play the game right or seasoning in AAA for another couple years. All he's going to do is steal time from the veterans that know how to win. Stupid Reds.

Not hardly.

EE hit .314/.388/.548 at Louisville and held his own in a little over 200 atbats with the Reds. A .744 OPS and 9 homeruns in 211 atbats by a 22-year old rookie? I'll take it. BTW, EE's .744 OPS was 46 points higher than Randa's OPS after the trade.

LaRue. High fly to center, one out. Swung at a 2-0 pitch.

Rhodes. Pups up quickly to third.

2-0 Reds after 1.5.

I'm listening to the Yankee's broadcast because the Reds broadcast is real choppy, making the Yankee's broadcast slightly less annoying. But I digress, they're talking about EdE, saying he'll be the starting third baseman unless he has an absolutley dreadful spring. They said they can't imagine what would be bad enough for him not to start. I guess they aren't real familiar with the Reds organization, huh? Suprise, the Reds are crazy.

Some posters need to realize how meaningless these ST games are. They are fun to watch, but when it comes down to it, are not a good way of evaluating players.

In '99 Jason Bere pitched great but in the regular season his ERA approached 7. Now that is just one example, but there are many others.

Before "deporting" guys like Tuffy, I think it would be fair to give him more than a 2 game ST stint. I'm not saying he's great, but I am willing to see what he has left.

I really think they'd like to do that (trade, Pena, play Denorfia), but if it happens I think Junior will remain in center for 06 (not that he's better than Denorfia there).

Technically they're right - his first outing was against the Kia Tigers which didn't count as a spring training outing. But then again, spring training games don't count, so is that like a double negative?

I liked that Williams worked himself out of jams. Of course, it would be nice not to get in the jam in the first place, but sacks filled and to get out with no one scoring is not too shabby.
