JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — Lenny Harris, the career leader in pinch hits, was released from the Florida Marlins on Wednesday after being told he would not make the team.

Reliever Kerry Ligtenberg also was released. The Marlins also reassigned outfielder Matt Cepicky and infielder Mike Kinkade to Triple-A Albuquerque and optioned left-hander Scott Olsen to Albuquerque.

No thanks. I don't think that this team's problem is that it is one hitter away from contending.

Everytime someone mentions Lenny Harris - I remember that spoof played on WLW with the song below. Matt - would you be so kind to see if you still have that spoof - and somehow get it online so everyone can hear it? I do think, however, its a Burbank thing.

Memories
Light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me - Would we? Could we?
Memories
May be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were

I'd like to see the Reds hire him as a coach/manage somewhere in the system, ticketed eventually for the majors.

Wouldn't be shocked to see the club looking for a coaching slot somewhere in the system for Lenny though - just my guess.

If he can't catch or play second then we don't want him. ;)

I think Lenny has plenty of scrappy. Plus he Plays The Game The Right Way and Knows How To Win. But he really can't play anything except pinch hitter.

40 years old and now an ex-player.

It's a little-remembered fact that Lenny Harris nearly hit a home run in his first World Series at bat (Roger Clemens). Harris sliced a liner to left that reached the seats, only about five feet foul. He then struck out to end the inning.
