Left fielder Adam Dunn is a .348 hitter (8-for-23) with four home runs and 10 RBIs against Rusch.

I am just in a better mood today because the reds are playing. :D

I've seen one of them. Back at old riverfront (Cinergy) when Rusch was a brewer, also doubled off the top of the CF wall that night.

HIT DUNN 4th!
Here is the thing I don't get.

Narron hits Dunn 4th against righties, but not lefties. Isn't the entire point of splitting up the lefties so a team can't bring a lefty out of the pen to face both Griffey and Dunn?

I am not sure what he is thinking. Hit him 4th against both or niether.

Perfect point right there. Dunn hits lefties nearly as well as Lefties, which is why it is kind of more senseless. Narron maybe knows something we don't though.

Ya I hate the afternoon games this week and to start the season, because working all day I miss most of the games. Makes me wonder how the heck these guys in Chicago that do business make any cubs games with 70-80% of their games being day games.

With Rusch on the mound, how about:

Freel 2B (3-8 w/ 2 BB)
Lopez SS (4-12)
Griffey CF (5-23 w/ 3 HR)
Dunn LF (8-23 w/ 4 HR)
Kearns RF (4-14)
Aurilia 1B (3-10 w/ 1 HR)
Encarnacion 3B
Ross/Valentin C

One other note: Dunn has been miserable against the Cubs pair of LOOGYs, Ohman and Eyre (1-17), and Griffey has had good success against Eyre (6-17) but not Ohman (1-8). Kearns, however, is 0-1 w/ 2 BB against Ohman and 1-1 against Eyre, so it may be a decent idea to sandwich Kearns between Dunn/Junior today.

reds44

I don't think you need to adjust the batting order after a week. Keep EE where he is in the lineup.

Look at some of the other youngsters off to slow starts this year, there is no need to panic.

Plus I think he has a hit against every lefty we have faced this year.

I want to see Kearns go off on the Cubs like he did a couple seasons ago.

Good chance. Reds lit Rusch up pretty good last week. If the wind is blowing out should be lots of homers flying out of Wrigley. Reds have more power guys so we should be OK. :)

Dunn and Aurilia are actually fairly similar vs. lefties in their careers. Dunn is only slightly better OPS wise.

Dunn: .236/.354/.491
Aurilia: .276/.337/.478

Intuitively I don't like it either, but it does split up the lefties. My only problem is that at the end of the game I'd rather have Dunn get an AB than Aurilia. Even then, you probably want your better contact guy at the plate when you need to drive a run in and there's not a significant OPS difference.

Dunn has great numbers against Rusch and at Wrigley. Aurilia has stunk at Wrigley Field the last three years. I'm not sure what his career numbers are against Rusch though. That may be why he's hitting 4th.

That's true and that just show the stupidity of black out rules. Even though the Reds network isn't televising the game it's still blacked out. Makes no sense whatsoever. :bang: This is about the only time I'm glad I live in the DC area. I can see every game except when they play the Nats. Yeah the blackout rules are a major pain in the butt. Since i live just across the border in south carolina I get every game with extra innings except for braves games which I can get on TBS or I'm in atlanta watching the reds play. My parents live in north carolina and are therefore inside the Reds Home region according to the rules. So they have to use a regional sports package and can only get games that are broadcast on fsn ohio.
