Mulder swings on the 1st pitch and grounds it to 3rd.

Eddie takes the throw over to 1st and he is out.

After 4 - Reds 1 Redbirds 2.

S-L-O-W game today, but Arroyo, while obviously not having his "A" game, is keeping the RedBirds in check, even while struggling. IMO, that says a lot...

Thru 4....good job, imo. (sorry to quote myself)

If he's not on the field for the homestand when the fans are paying to see him, be worried then.

FWIW, last time Griffey went "day to day" I heard almost immediately that it was worse than was being indicated. This time, I haven't heard any rumblings of such. But when haven't the Reds underplayed a Jr injury?

You act as if I am a big Dunn basher. You should know better, I defend the guy everytime someone bashes him. I'm just getting frusrated over him killing rallies by swinging at pitching that would make Tony Womack blush.

BTW, I do know about small sample sizes. No need to question my baseball knowledge.
39 ab's is less than 10% of what he'll have all year.

And he sits at .308/.396/.795 after those.

What I'm worried about is his plate approach with runners on. He's chasing bad pitches. I believe someone is whispering in his ear to be more agressive with runners on.

I don't know why anyone's worried.

This team has the ability to strike with lightning speed. With the exception of Freel and Ross, the entire team has the capability of hitting for power. Lopez, Dunn, Aurillia, Encarnacion and Kearns are each capable of tying the game with a single swing.

This is a team that can score runs in bunches. One or two easy innings for a starter shouldn't concern anyone when a single mistake pitch can change the game.

This is why the Reds are dangerous, right here. In the 4th, 5th and 6th when they start to tire a starting pitcher out, they can absolutely obliterate these pitches where the velocity is just a little off or the spotting isn't quite as crisp.

Quick strike offense made all the more deadly by plate discipline and pitch selectivity.

Has anyone else noticed that most of the eat up time "chatter" has been either about Puljois, Edmonds, or some other Card great of yester year??? Anyway, our pitching hasn't been that bad today, imo you can blame Narron for not telling Arroyo to pass on Pujois and Rolen. Besides those 2 mistakes he pitched fairly well even though he didn't have nearly his best stuff today. What is irratating me is the # of runners we've left on base. I hate it when we play boom or bust baseball where we can't drive anyone in without the long ball.

So, iow, his season is over:bang: I pray not, but ya gotta think the FO is not giving us the truth about Jr.:help:

:runawaycr

I don't think it's that big of a deal, but because his name is Ken Griffey Jr., it's percieved to be. I think it's probably a clearence to play issue. If it were serious, he'd have been DL'ed by now and probably would've already had surgery.

Him and Kearns both -- with as badly as Wainwright was struggling to find the plate, if both would've just stood there, they probably would've either walked or seen a total meatball on 3-0 that they really could've done something with.

When a pitcher is battling his own control, you've got to recognize it as a hitter and take advantage of it.

This is the type of game that irritates me about the Reds O...........we are totally boom or bust on O, and can't get runs home the Ole' fashioned way. It's either a 5 HR game where we score a gazillion runs, or we leave 10 on base and are impatient as crap at the plate. We could have alot more than 4 runs if we would have taken our time at the plate. I see what people where talking about with Phillips as well..........he's a dead pull hitter that either can't or refuses to take it opposite field. He's hit 2 balls fairly hard, but the left fielder hasn't had to move, becasue he's hitting it right toward the shift...........GO TO RIGHT FIELD MAN!!!!
