#1 - advantage Reds
#2 - advantage Reds
#3 - advantage Cards
#4 - advantage Reds
#5 - advantage Reds
#6 - advantage push (only b/c SS went PH yard yesterday and EE seems to be pressing at the plate)
#7 - advantage Cards
#8 - advantage neither (both are horrible)
#9 - advantage push (I like Arroyo vs. Mulder)

while our bottom of the lineup might struggle, our top of the lineup should put runs on the board early, I'm hoping

more PAs for BP means less for Womack, and I'm all for that!

Aurilia at #3? Oh lord...
ya know in defense of Aurilia the guy doesn't have the early stats to get you all giggly inside but I've seen the guy hit the ball hard pretty much most of the time with little to show for it. Let's all hope all evens out as it usually does.

With Griffey and Larue out, it's hard to blame Narron with the hand he's been dealt. Other than Aurilla's spot in the order, he's got the right guys in there. Womack shouldn't ever start vs. the LH pitcher, nor should Valentin.

And look at the Cards OF of Rodriquez, Schmaker and Spezio. I gotta think our AAA OF can hit better than that. A potent bunch of no hit/no field OF's as I've ever seen.

LawFive

Ditto in Memphis, blacked out on both. I expect here it is because the Cards are the "local" team, which is all fine and good, except that we are not getting the local over-the-air feed that St. Louis residents are getting, of course.

Every time Adam K's in those situations, it's on a bad pitch.

The worst part in that AB is that he saw the pitch earlier and still got himself out on it. Not a single Strike was thrown during that AB to Dunn and he still ended up walking back to the dugout. That makes me grumpy.

Prepare to be sad, Reds fans...Cards' announcers talking about how Pujols talked after the game yesterday about his need to not be "selfish" and go ahead and take walks if that is what pitchers are dealing, and trust that his teammates will make them pay. I don't mind strikeouts looking or swinging or good pitches, but I can't stand to watch guys swing at crappy pitches like Dunn is.

IF Dunn is going back to trying to "put the ball in play" like he did a few years back, Marty and "certain Reds fans" are EXACTLY who I will blame. The near-constant caterwauling from that segment about Dunn leads to him trying to be something he is not, and offering at bad pitches instead of taking the walks that appear to cause little pieces of Marty Brennamen to die each time it happens...

Dear Marty,

You consistenty rip on Adam Dunn for being a being a poor hitter with runners in scoring position. During todays' game (sunday 4/16) against the Cardinals you made the following comments.

"I don't know if Dunn will ever be good with RISP"

"Dunn had a problem with RISP last year"

I assume you can read so I'm wondering why you can't seem to find Adam's statistics from last year to support your assertion. Is it because you have a personal agenda against Adam Dunn or because you are just ignorant?

Since you are apparently unable or unwilling to do so yourself I thought I'd forward Dunn's numbers with RISP from last year. I thought they might be a good talking point for you to use when you admit that you don't know what you are talking about.

In case no one told you yet OPS is a players slugging percentage plus his on base pecentage. As a point of reference Albert Pujols' OPS for all of last year was 1.039 so as you can see Adam does quite well with RISP despite your constent diatribes to the contrary.

This team has the ability to strike with lightning speed. With the exception of Freel and Ross, the entire team has the capability of hitting for power. Lopez, Dunn, Aurillia, Encarnacion and Kearns are each capable of tying the game with a single swing.

He has only done it because someone has talked to him about his approach with runners on and being more aggressive. We are seeing the results.

Arroyo swings at the 1st pitch and grounds it back to Mulder.

But the Reds aren't even threatening Mulder at all. They look horribly off balance against him.

When he gets that mickey-mouse curveball going, it can make a lot of very good batters look off balance.

The Reds look bad against a lefty with some junk?

Color me surprised.

Dunn looks terribly uncomfortable in there against Mulder. Looks like he's not seeing the ball well at all.he hit 2Hrs in a game off of Mulder last season. Mulder just isn't going to get him anything to him. Dunn will either get himself out or Mulder or walk him.

Cunny thumber: Any pitcher who does not throw very hard and throws a lot of offspeed pitches.

edit: from a "baseball lingo" site.

Yeah, I found that definition too.

Problem was the "non-baseball" sites comprising the remainder of my Google search list.

And I'm pretty sure that if I walked around work telling folks that I was a "cunny thumber" in High School, I'd soon be an Human Resources issue.

They've hit Mulder fairly well in the past though.

Hurt leg....supposedly nothing serious.

Day to day for 5 days now.Day to day lasted 4 weeks to end the season last year.

I'm surprised LaRussa lets Scott Spiezio have that 'thing' on his chin.

But the Reds aren't even threatening Mulder at all. They look horribly off balance against him. Mulder is changing speeds well, and has his breaking ball working. That kills a team that strikes out a lot. If they can somehow keep forcing Mulder to go deep into the count and get him out fairly early, they could do some work on the pen.

Power pitchers= sheer happiness for the Reds.

Finesse pitchers= t-r-o-u-b-l-e.

That's funny. I turned to my cat and told him someone on redszone who doesn't understand the nature of small sample sizes is going to claim (once again) that this AB is proof of Dunn sucking if he doesn't get a hit right now.

Looks like we were both right.

Molina takes 1st pitch and drives it down the right field line.

AK cuts it off and holds him to a single.

Mo Sanford threw a 2 hitter complete game in his first start, stranger things have happened.

Day to day lasted 4 weeks to end the season last year.

If he's not on the field for the homestand when the fans are paying to see him, be worried then.

FWIW, last time Griffey went "day to day" I heard almost immediately that it was worse than was being indicated. This time, I haven't heard any rumblings of such.

You act as if I am a big Dunn basher. You should know better, I defend the guy everytime someone bashes him. I'm just getting frusrated over him killing rallies by swinging at pitching that would make Tony Womack blush.

BTW, I do know about small sample sizes. No need to question my baseball knowledge. I'm worried that this small sample size is going to turn into a whole season. His approach with runners on is different this year, he just looks bad.
