What is everyone's opinion of the best PS2 baseball game out there? I'm looking to buy one for my son and I. Thanks

I've got an Xbox and I bought the only baseball game that's out for it, MLB 2k6, I like it and it's very fun. However, since you have a PS2, I would at least rent that MLB '06 The Show game, I personally have not played it but I haven't heard anything but good things about it.

Probably a dumb question, but was Triple Play replaced with MVP?

the 2 new mlb games for ps2 highly disappointed me, i just updated my rosters for mvp 2005 and play it still, the rosters for the most part have been updated pretty well. They even updated the stats so guys like felipe lopez are good now.

MVP 2005 with the 2006 update. I can't wait till the final version of the update is out in a couple more weeks. The update really got me loving that game all over again.

Last time I checked, PS2 doesn't have this as a title, although this is by far one of if not the most in depth Front Office style baseball game on the market.

MLB '06 The Show is wonderful on PSP, and I've heard the same about PS2--only that it is better and more feature rich. MLB 2K6 for PSP is a choppy, unrealistic mess. One cool feature of The Show is that PSP and PS2 owners can play each other online.

I've never updated MVP 2005 for PS2, but I would imagine you'd have to buy a USB memory card (which you can also plug into your PC), and download the updated roster file off the internet.

Edit: Google "ps2 max drive"

I have XBOX and the only game available is 2K6. 2K6 has AMAZING graphics but the game play is average at best.

Agreed...MVP was the king of baseball games, but btw 2k6 and The Show, The Show wins hands down.

Ahh I just read the "video game" part, didn't see this was just about the ps2.

Baseball Stars.

Old School.

Word.

When I was a sophomore in college, the guys in my dorm had a league (each of us created our own team--mine was the Rockers, all named after rock stars), and we would play Baseball Stars until the wee hours. If you weren't playing, you watched and scouted your opponents. We played Baseball Stars until 4:00 AM the night before the first day of finals. (I had three scheduled that day, and the first one was at 8:00!) Man, I loved that game!

Alright just rented 2k6 tonight, I have said on here I was not a big fan of The Show, but after playing 2k6 I take it back. 2k6 is an insult to baseball games. Also rented NCAA 06, very good game. I would say go with the roster update for MVP 2006, although I dont know how to do it either.

I'm not sure how you would get the update for MVP 2005 for PS2. I have the computer version so I just download the update and put it in the file on my computer. All of the mods and updates for MVP 05 come from the webste www.mvpmods.com. The work some of the people on that site do is amazing. The 2006 upate was basically just a combination of all of their updates. The 2006 update now is just a beta version but the final version should be coming out by the end of April.

if you have the network adapter you can just plug the ps2 into the internet just like you do your computer and update them

The purchase of MLB and MLBPA rights by anyone other than EA is horrible for the gaming community.

How do you figure?

Competition is great, ESPECIALLY when it comes to video games.

I wish like hell I was playing EA's MVP Baseball 2006 on my XBOX 360. That'd be an amazing game. Instead, if I want a baseball fix, I gotta go with MVP 05.

I'm against exclusive rights for any sports video games. Allow any publisher that wants to pony up the licensing fee to have a go at making the game and let the cream rise to the top.

How about Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 on the Super Nintendo?
I'll also throw in the baseball game that Tecmo (of Tecmo Super Bowl fame) did for the SNES.
I also used to play the 2K games but I'm loving The Show now.
