Got action on the Reds tonight, they are a slight underdog, paying out at +131. Of other gambling interest the Braves are underdogs tonight @Milwaukee paying out +130. I was a little worried about the Reds with the lizard on the mound, but I like the offense to pull us through, also the over/under is 9 runs... seems like a pretty safe bet to me. Go Reds!!

Dunn costs us a run

1. RFK is huge and Dunn was a step or two inside the WT.

2. Lemme see you throw out a speedy Soriano at 2B off your backfoot as you're making a play on a deep flyout.

3. At most, Dunn cost the Reds 1 base, since Soriano advanced to 2B, he didn't score on that play.

I can't wait to read what you have to say about Dunn ending the inning with the DP.

I said not a good start, but he will make up for it.

A 23 year pitcher gives up a run in the first (aided by a bad defensive play) and you conclude he has no chance to be a major league pitcher.

It must me wonderful to be so gifted.

What major league team are you scouting for???

Maybe he is including Ramirez's time with the Phils, and his stints last year with the Reds? Ya think? You might be right, he is judging a young pitcher, but its not one inning as you say.

Patrick Bateman

No. His stuff brings me to the conclusion that he won't be a good major league pitcher.

It must be your assessment of his stuff, because major league scouts have assessed his stuff as being possibly good enough to be a good major league pitcher.

He has average stuff, but above average control.

With experience, he could be a viable back of the rotation starter.

There are many, many good major league starters with average stuff.

I think the Nationals are whining too much. Those pitches aren't all strikes. They want the ump to give Livan a couple of inches on either side IMO.

This is the kind of strikezone I like. Most umps call pitches off the plate a strike as long as the pitch is within 4-6 inches of the plate. I hate that; the plate is there for a reason. I like this guy.

Good inning by Ramirez.

Personally, I think the Nats announcers have a legit beef. Maybe not all of those pitches should be called strikes, but there have been a couple that I thought for certain would be called strikes. For sure, there have been worse pitches called strikes that I've seen this year.

I also agree that if he isn't calling the corners, both pitchers are in for a long day. Livan has to serve meatballs. At least the lizard seems to have some more pop on his pitches. Nats got lucky with Dunn's GIDP.

Per Wikipedia:

Austin Kearns (born May 20, 1980 in Lexington, Kentucky) is a Major League Baseball player who plays right field for the Cincinnati Reds. After a stellar career at Lafayette High School, he was the top player taken overall in the 1998 draft by the Cincinnati Reds. Although drafted as a pitcher, he has played outfield both in the minor and major leagues. After just three seasons in the minors, he made his mlb debut was on April 17, 2002 and as of 2005 is still in the teams starting rotation. He throws and bats right-handed and did not attend college. His 2005 salary was $930,000.

You're seeing the same effect for FeLo this year that Jeter experienced once ARod became the everyday 3B. FeLo can concentrate more on balls to his left, b/c he knows he'll get help to his right from EE. EE has plenty of range, which easily makes up for FeLo's inability to go into the hole.
