Reds strand yet another runner against Claudio Vargas of all people.

Going 1-4 on a roadtrip to Coors Field and Chase Field is brutal.

This has looked like an entirely different team this road-trip. What happened to the consistently patient hitting approach?

This team is so killer when they make the starter work.

Actually, Arroyo is showing us something tonight. He's battling against a tough matchup for him. He's had men on all night and has managed to only give up 3 runs and not let it get out of hand. The mark of a good pitcher is when they can battle to keep it respectable on nights they don't have their best stuff. I actually like what I've seen tonight from Arroyo even though they're hitting him pretty good.

Very nice post.

Have you read The Last Season, Reds44?

If you're a Laker fan, it should be required reading... The reason Laker management had to pacify Kobe is b/c Kobe wouldn't play w/ Shaq.

Looking at things from the info that Phil Jackson provides in his book, it really seems apparent that Kobe was the one responsible for poisoning the relationship between he and Shaq.

It all comes back to Kobe and his ego. Buss and company would have preferred to keep them both and win a few more championships, but Kobe wasn't having it.

They are both important. You can't throw out a sucky batting for a good OBP. Yes I know I am going to get ripped for this and some of you will take it to an extreme and say I said he should never walk, but his job isn't to get on base. It is to get people off of base (drive them in). I'd much rather sacrifice 20 points of his OBP and add them to his average.

Dude, don't even bother. It was like trying to speak another language when I tried to argue with him the other night about the Coors effect.

Yeah, I kept telling myself I would refrain but I was pulled in tonight for the last time. I sometimes wonder if some folks are still driving a horse and buggy.

Coming off winning 4 out of 5 against the Cards and Astros after sweeping the Nats, this road trip was almost inevitable. I'm not that worried about it. This happens even to good teams. Their next 9 games are against the Nats, Phils, and Bucs and 6 of them are at home. THAT'S when we'll learn about what this team is made of. These types of road trips don't tell us much.

CTA513

the season is nothing but a series of ups and down. Hopefully in the end it will have more ups than downs. They are going through a bit of a slump at the moment with the bats. I for one am not worried about the offense. It will be the quality of the pitching that will determine the ultimate success of the 2006 Reds

After a mostly 1-4 roadtrip, anything less than 6-3 vs the Nats, Phillies, and Pirates would be a huge disappointment.

Honestly, no need to throw away the next game so easily as bad of a match-up as it looks.

As bad as Williams is, the Reds have won 3 out of his 5 starts. When our offense shows up they can match Williams' crappines. They aren't playing great right now, but they could bust out any time. There is a chance.

Hernandez ain't lookin' any better at 2-3, with a 6.39 ERA, 1.55 WHIP

In his last start vs the Dodgers, he got the win yet yielded six runs, nine hits and a pair of walks in 3 2/3 innings against the Dodgers on Tuesday. LA won 10-8.

Lets hope we helps us break out of our mini offensive slump.

Hernandez is just asking to get better though. He's K-ing people at well better than a batter per inning. He's been unbelievably hit unlucky. I expect today is the day he starts to turn it around, against a severely slumping offense at the end of a bad road trip.
