I'm thinking about driving up after work next Friday and catching the Saturday/Sunday games. Is the park downtown or in the burbs? Anyone know of a good place to stay? How's the ballyard itself?

Stay away from burning couches in the middle of the Fisher Freeway ;)

Nice park, easy access by car - plenty of parking - I suggest the lot behind center field. You could probably walk up and get tickets.

There are a couple of hotels downtown-and they have a light rail system that would take you around Downtown Detroit.

'Burbs are easily accessable off 75 & 96.

Last year I went, the park concessions were actually cheap. Strange.

They have done a nice job on the downtown area, but the areas north, east & southwest of downtown proper need help.

The stadium is very nice and the parking around Comerica is easy to navigate (and free on the street near the stadium...park by the Town Pump bar if you see it). The park is downtown and don't let people freak you out about Detroit (or at least the area around the park ;) ). It's safe. Not sure about hotels, though, as I haven't checked in to one downtown. There are many nice spots in the surrounding areas.

I've been there, but it was the first year it opened. I went to the Bengals/Lions game this year, and it seemed like the area had improved since my previous trip. I'll be up for the Sunday game behind the Tigers on deck circle.

You really, really don't want to park for free on the street. A friend of mine did that last year and got a cinder block through his window for it. Spend a few dollars to get in a lot. Comerica is definitely in a better area than Tiger Stadium was, but it's still not squeaky clean. The park itself is very nice, I actually like it a little better than GABP, you should have a good time.

Ill be ther for the Saturday tilt and we chose to stay in Windsor. I read about a shuttle from Windsor to the park for games that we will try out.

Go to the Red Wings resturant, it's great, right across from the stadium. Greek Town Casino has good food also. The Ahenium Hotel is a great hotel, downtown. The "people mover" goes through the hotel, it will take you directly to the ballpark for $1.50!!! I know Mo-town!! Send me a private message and you can call me!

I have been there, and the stadium itself is very nice. It is downtown, and it has a view of the skyline from the seats. One of my favorite ballparks.

My only suggestion would be to make sure you park in a stadium lot. When you drive down there are alot of people with non-stadium parking lots offering parking. It is downtown Detroit, so don't be nieve.
