I'd take Kearns over dunn in the 4 hole to switch up the righty lefty. Dunn struggling a bit. I'd say the manager has done a good job with little tweaks like this. I like it.

I'm going to agree with others who say they're glad to see Griffey back. His frequent-contact, high power is just the element this team is lacking. They have massive patience (Dunn, Enc, Mangione) and middling contact power (Lopez, Kearns); Junior wraps it all up in one (power and contact and decent patience). Like a Junior Burrito.

I hope they prove me right.

Wow... it's a team with a higher ERA than the Reds'. Even though the Philly bullpen is much better at this point, the non-Myers starters have been bad enough that the Phillies have a 4.70 mark. Meanwhile, the Reds' ERA has been dropping like a stone- all the way to 4.44, good for ninth best of 16 in the league.

If we'd been ninth in ERA last season, we would have finished over .500 easily.

Dunn at 1B - finally. IMO he should start there at least 2-3 times a week with Aurilia out.

The Reds haven't seen many left-handed starters since Aurilia went on the disabled list. I figured that when Aurilia went on the DL, Hatteberg might get an occasional start against the lefties, but mostly the Reds would use Dunn at 1B and insert a righty-hitting outfielder in LF (Freel, Denorfia, or the switch-hitting McCracken) to continue the platoon.

Everytime we are positive about a lineup, we play like crap. So, Freel is will be terrible with the slump he is in. Griffey will give back any runs w/ his defense than his bat will provide. And you think Dunn looks bad in left, just wait till you see that oblong freak at first. He also strikes out too much. Phils win 32-1.

You know, I see this a lot, and it drives me crazy. Why do guys who try to switch-hit, and can't hit their weight from one side or another, like Javy hitting right-handed for instance, just pick the side they CAN hit from and hit that way? Does having the platoon advantage outweigh the fact that the dude SUCKS as a righty? Just go up there lefty dude. All the time. You can't hit righthanded.

Believe me, as a high school baseball player who hits left handed, it's not that easy to hit a lefty's curve as a hitter. If I could hit just a bit right handed, I would do it. Some people are just that bad at hitting same-handed pitchers.

Believe me, as a high school baseball player who hits left handed, it's not that easy to hit a lefty's curve as a hitter. If I could hit just a bit right handed, I would do it. Some people are just that bad at hitting same-handed pitchers.
Oh, I get that, but if you can't do it successfully, why not just play to your strengths?

Yeah but that's not his job in that situation. If you're gonna make an out, sure, it helps to move the guy up, but it's not like he was sacrificing. George was grasping for straws. 2 outs on third isn't much different than 2 outs on second.
