The urinals in the men's rooms in Pittsbugh face the field and have a view port for the users to be able continue to watch the action on the field while using the facilities.

I think we oughta bring Denorfia in to pitch.

He throws so hard he'd break LaRue's hand.

I'm thinking he could break the MLB record for strikeouts in one inning. I know there are only 3 outs in an inning, but he'd throw every third strike in such a way that the batter would swing and miss, but the pitch would be too fast and funky for the catcher to handle, and the batter would take first.

Strange...

Marty says Dunn is an ideal #2 because of his ability to get on base (no argument there), then says he'd like to see Dunn be more aggressive and chase balls off the plate--thus killing his OBP.

And, here's something else: If Dunn hit 40 HRs, yet "only" knocked in 100 runs, is that more of an indicment of Dunn, or an indictment of those batting in front of him who were unable to get on base before Dunn hit one of his HRs?

No doubt. I created a thread on this same issue last week and most people just wrote it off as me misunderstanding Narron's quote on wanting Dunn to expand his strikezone.

Narron will ruin Adam Dunn if he continues to whisper these things in his hear.

Strange...

Marty says Dunn is an ideal #2 because of his ability to get on base (no argument there), then says he'd like to see Dunn be more aggressive and chase balls off the plate--thus killing his OBP.which is why he grounded into a DP with the bases loaded, chasing a ball down and out of strike zone. You can't have it both ways. Pitchers attempt to pitch around him with runners on. He either has to take the walks(like last night) or chase questionable pitches with likely poor results.

I know Freel has been slumping, but is there anything more frustrating in Reds Country right now than Griffey in center costing us runs on a daily basis when there are two available options that could run circles around him in center, with Freel and Denorfia? That the Reds won't make that move is beyond frustrating.

i'm pretty sure they have had the shift on for both Dunn and Junior all game

Considering the slump that Dunn is in right now, I'd really like to see him directed to lay down a bunt toward 3rd base (depending on the situation, obviously). You never know. Sometimes a silly way of getting a base hit like that has a way of busting a dreadful slump.

Big Klu

They double switched out Dunn...Phillips at 2B batting 9th; Freel to LF.

That leads me to believe that it'll be a 2-inning save op for Weathers because he hasn't pitched since Sunday.

But Weathers would have to pitch at least three innings to get the save.

I do think that they plan to go with Weathers for two innings though. (At least I hope so--otherwise, the double switch makes no sense.)

Absolutely. But he should do it on his own (not directed).

Particularly if no one's on and if he's high in the lineup (like today). Dunn can run and there's more than one way to get your OBP up.

There're no "actual damages" to the person whose signal I was using, unless you want to count decrease in total available bandwidth.

I do expect, however, that phone companies and cable companies will figure out a way in the near future to force their customers to password encrypt their wireless signals in order to stop people from doing what I've been doing. It's so easy to leetch interent signals (especially in close-quarters areas like apartment complexes or townhomes) from neighbors that it probably costs internet providers substantial revenues in lost subscriptions.

I'll qualify that I did not see the play, but for a second baseman to try and pick the guy at third in that situation is probably never a wise play. I think BP made the right, conservative play to get the out there and gave his pitcher the opportunity to do his job, which he did. Now, if Jimenez was still around, that ball was going to third.

Having just gone through the second half of this game thread, I feel compelled to say something that feeds an argument I detest (sorry). Lay off poor Adam Dunn. He is a gift to this team and there are numerous other threads that prove why statistically. He's far from perfect in the field and he can't always be perfect at the plate. But the fans of many other teams that I know would still give their eyeteeth to have him and I just can't believe that people are so quick to take for granted what he means to this team. (I could say much the same for LaRue.) This is a team that employs Dave Williams and His Unmerry Bullpen from Hell, and you all want to pick on Adam Freaking Dunn? He could well be the only person on this current team who goes into the Hall of Fame as a Red. Come on.

These game threads are not nearly as much fun as they used to be, and the constant bickering over the same useless statistic (RISP, ahhhhhhh) is really tiresome. I do like a good joke once in a while, but I get the impression that a lot of you really do believe that this team's troubles are due to adam Dunn or are just lazily using him as a scapegoat, and I think you should read up and smile.

This game really does not give me much consolation. Especially with Detroit as our next opponent.

We left 19 men on base today.... Dunn (6), Griffey (2), Hat (3), Kearns (3), and then after that it was spread out pretty evenly.

Williams lasted 3 innings, gave up 6 ERs on 7 hits, while facing a grand total of 20 batters. His ERA climbed from 6.32 to 7.20 in his first career appearance against his former club.

Not good.

Detroit has to salivating right now. ;)

Get used to it. Rich Aurilla got reamed much worse last year. Luckily the mod's are starting to stop the nonsense.

And Adam Dunn will never be loved by the casual baseball fan because of his perceived laziness. Don't yell at me for saying that, I'm just saying what I hear at about every baseball game. The casual baseball fan isn't going to care about obp or ops and they are going to care about what they perceive to be wrong with Adam.

I was a little concerned, in the early part of the game, that the Pirate announcers were really conveying a lack of effort on the part of several Reds players on defense. They questioned if they really wanted to be there. Glad to see that they came back and won today, but Narron needs to give a few of the boys a serious kick in the tail if what the announcers were saying was in fact, true. No excuse for lack of effort.
