I know many people on the board want Deno up in the bigs and I am one of those people. Everyone makes jokes about how Deno would have caught that ball with his teeth, in his jock, etc etc etc (and by the way, I love those comments). But what is the point of having him in AAA? He is obviously above that level and it isn't like he is 22 yrs old. And he would be much more useful than QCrack. I don't think that is even up for discussion.
We all know Deno won't hit .350, hit 55 HRs or scale the batter's eye to rob HRs, but the Reds need him more than the Bats do. Double switches, pinch running, late inning defensive replacements are all roles he would fill admirably. The NL is a whole different ballgame than the AL and you need a strong bench due to all the substituting. And if I see Q pinch hitting in a key situation again, I might cry.
Fine, leave Griffey in CF. But I don't want to see Grif tear a hammy chasing down a ball in the alley in the 9th b/c our only other option in CF was Q. Griffey cannot play everyday and I think Deno would get plenty of ABs in the bigs, especially against lefties. Plus, if he can show a little talent he could be nice trade bait at the deadline. But he is doing us no good in AAA, where he has already proven himself.
