OK. Who on this forum sent the email to Jr saying he didn't have the range to play CF?

He reads ORG. His determined to prove to REDSZONE that he is not the worst CF in baseball.

Bronson Arroyo back up to bat again, because gosh darn it, he can't get enough of this whole National League thing. As if to just insult the Brewers further, Arroyo takes pitches to work the count to 2-2 before striking out looking.

At the end of 6, it's a 13-1 lead for the Reds. Been awhile since we had one of these. :D

Top of 7, Reds crushing the Beer Cans 13-1

Even Dave Williams should've been able to hold this lead. Ryan Freel takes over for Junior in Center.

Prince Fielder leads the inning off, wondering why we scream at each other. He hits a little flair out to left field for his 3rd hit...3 hits, but all for naught on the scoreboard.

That, my friends, is what it sounds like when Brewers cry.

T7, 1 on, 2 outs

Chad Moeller is the 2 out batter, with Prince still feeling the love down at 1st. The count runs full at 3-2, as Moeller crusades forward with his pesky at bat fouling off several Bronson Arroyo pitches. Nothing quite like having your pitch count run in a 13-1 game by the 8 hitter who can't seem to make an out.

Chad pops out to Kearns for the 3rd out. Arroyo apologies to Griffey on the way into the dugout for hating on Moeller.

Reds still leading 13-1.

Bottom of 7, Reds leading 13-1

Felipe Lopez leads off the inning for Cincinnati. The team's rallying cry this inning: "Do it for the Pythag!" Lopez, surely bringing a tear to Chambliss's eye, works the count to 3-1 before fouling a ball off to run the count full. If Lopez won't do it for the pythag, could he at least do it for my fantasy squad?

Lopez hits a ball into left field for a base hit. The Wackbags thank him for his support.

Brandon Phillips up again, acquiting himself well in the #2 hole tonight. Maybe it's just me, but I feel dirty typing "#2 hole" -- I need to get my mind out of the gutter.

Phillips falls quickly behind in the count 0-2, which I'm cool with at this point in the game. Phillips fouls a few pitches off before grounding a ball into left field for another base hit, his 4th of the night.

2 on, 0 out for Freel

B7, 2 on, 0 out

Ryan Freel up for the first time this game -- looking for a single in order to avoid being out-scrapped by the two men already on base. Maybe a good, honest, American HBP would suffice for out-scrapping. He falls behind in the count 1-2 before taking a called Strike 3 for the first out of the inning.

He must be taking batting tips with RISP from Adam Dunn

Caveat Emperor

Quentin McCracken pinch hits for Adam Dunn with runners on 1st and 2nd. Adam going to go spend some quality time with his adoring female fans. You bust that slump, Killer.

Top of the 8th, Reds clinging to a 15-1 lead

Mike Burns is your new Reds pitcher. Apparently the Reds have found the only thing Burns is good for, holding a 2 touchdown lead.

On the plus side, the Brewers can console themselves that only 16,567 people saw the game happen, which at least gives them plausible deniability that it actually was this bad.

Gabe Gross disgusts everyone as he steps to the plate and then flies out to left on a 2-0 pitch. Awful, hideous and revolting.

Another comment. Does everyone believe Griffey to be so bad in CF? I'm not pro scout. I'm just a fan, but he seems to get a good break and make most of the plays. He made two great plays tonight. They smell an opportunity for a HUGE story if the Reds can hang around and make a run at the post-season, with a healthy Ken Griffey Jr. -- the "People's Champion" of Baseball -- leading the charge.

Brandon Phillips is exactly the kind of move that a good, confident gm makes. It's been beaten into the ground the crap gm's we've had lately, but Krivsky really seems to understand the type of high reward/low risk moves that DanO or Jim Bowden could never figure out. One (Bowden) never figured out how to temper his enthusiasm for high risk players at positions not of need, and the other (O'brien) never figured out how to pull the trigger on anything.

At this point every Krivsky move has been based on pitching or defense, how common sense? For some reason nobody else around this team could ever find a reasonable way to pull it off.

Phillips might tank soon, who cares? With what Phillips has done to this point there is nothing in the world that could make this deal a bad deal.

Cyclone792
05-22-2006, 11:53 PM
Brandon Phillips wants to make sure that I'll have plenty to eat around my place with all the crow he's trying to serve up to me. I was very critical of Phillips' bat last week, and since then he's lit a fire at the plate ... and because I'm selfish, I'm going to take full credit for his past few hot games ;)

If it means this team winning on a consistent basis, I'll go on a full diet of crow for several weeks!

In all seriousness though, kudos to Phillips for the four hit game. With help from Chambliss, I really hope he's beginning to learn quite a bit more about plain ole hitting, and I hope he's beginning to show us what he's capable of on a consistent basis. I'm still very wary of his plate discipline and not sold that he'll come around fully with the stick, but he certainly could be doing much worse.

Additionally, the more I see of him in the field, the more I really do believe he's the best defensive middle infield option we've got. I'm pretty much of the opinion now that the team needs to stick him at shortstop where his glove can save even more runs than it can at second base, give Chambliss quite a bit of time to work with him and hopefully net ourselves an overall pretty solid player. If his recent offense proves to be a fluke, well hopefully his outstanding glove still allows him to be a positive contributor to the team.

In a way, I guess Phillips is sort of a microcosm of my opinion of the team as whole: unexpected success early, and while I'm still not yet sold, I'm loving it while it's here since I realize the situation could be much, much worse.

Adam Dunn's eyes widen as he begins his swing (note: he didn't homer on this pitch, but I think it was this plate appearance that he homered ... unfortunately I didn't get get the pic).

Thanks, all :)

Tonight was wonderful seats, and with it being a nice evening I figured I'd take the camera and play around with it a bit. I was able to take them all while sitting down, and I was trying to watch the pitcher's release to time the pitch well so the pics would take at the moment when the ball's at the plate.

I love the Griffey home run shot myself, but that was all luck and no skill on my part!

I reckon we'll need some extra starters as the year progresses. Especially as CE needs to study for his bar exams. We have a the perfect talent pool in REDS LIVE to see who can cut it at the pbp and get called up.

Fantastic job on pbp CE . Reds win Reds win ! More importantly the few quality relievers we have got rest tonight. BTW Hammonds been a quality reliever for quite some time since early season nuclear performance.

Thanks again to the Mods for allowing a game thread in ORG again.

My faith in humanity has been restored.

And thanks to all of you for your comments (and CE for the pbp), that was an entertaining read.
