Brewers purchased the contract of RHP Joe Winkelsas from Triple-A Indianapolis.
A surprising choice. Winklesas, 32, has made just one appearance in the majors, that coming with the Braves in 1999. He retired for a time in 2004. He had been effective in the minors this season, giving up four runs in 20 2/3 innings, most of which came in Double-A. Still, he's a poor bet to have any succeess.
