At this point I say Shackleford. He has been disappointing to say the least since he's been called up. White sucks too, but there's been signs he's improved and is getting clsoe to career ERA form, along with Hammond.

They might send Shackleford...which is a mistake, IMO. Shack can be a LOOGY, while Mercker is better as a one-two inning guys (no runners on, please) because he can usually get righties and lefties out about the same.

That said, don't really see the need to carry so many lefties...our division kills lefties.

Shack did the LOOGY job well last night getting the comebacker from Fielder. Does that not make lefties 1-for-18 off him?

I think that it will likely be Shackelford, though he will be back up with the Reds by July.

Sent out White..we don't need 12 pitchers.

Quinton McCracken will be sent to the Yankees for a PTBNL.

Either Rick White will be DFA or McCrackin will be sent down.

They were speculating during the Bats game tonight that it could be Belisle.

No way. Then who'd be the long guy?

I have to think it'll be McCracken. I've been defending the guy a lot, but that at-bat he had, I think last night, as a pinch-hitter was just downright ugly.

I wouldn't have a problem with that if the plan is to work on extending him into a starting role in Louisville.

Thats the only logical baseball reason. Anything else would be purely financial.

The way it sounds like, they want 12 pitchers, so it sounds like it will be a position player - so most likely McCracken:

Eleven pitchers: The Reds activated outfielder Cody Ross from the 15-day DL before Tuesday's game and optioned reliever Mike Burns back to Triple-A Louisville. Burns gave up three runs in one inning near the end of Monday's 15-5 blowout victory.

That means Cincinnati's staff is down to 11 pitchers for the first time this season. It could be a short-term situation since Mercker was expected to come off the DL on Friday.

"Our bullpen is as rested as it could possibly be," Narron said. "We've got a day off Thursday. This gives us the luxury, hopefully, of being able to go two games with 11 pitchers. What happens Friday? I don't know. We'll decide on Friday."

I'm betting Cody Ross will be traded to the Marlins...
