We need to jump all over Cruz tonight, show who's boss from the beginning!Cruz is 0-2 with a 5.35 ERA lifetime against the Reds, so hopefully the past results will continue with a pounding today.

I hate Kearns being in the 7 hole tonight, he's quietly been putting together a nice season. His numbers are .294/.371/.539/.910 with 10 HR, 30 RBI's and 32 Runs Scored. He needs a little more than LaRue for protection in the lineup.

Ltlabner
05-27-2006, 05:48 PM
I have a "procedural" question. Is the idea behind the game threads to put the "nice plays", "can't believe he dropped the ball" and "he goes yard" type comments in the chat room. And save the commentary on the game "it would be hard to do a sucide squeeze right now because of XYZ" type comments for the actual thread?

Just want to make sure I'm following the general idea for the chat room vs. thread.

Thanks,.

Flip flop him and Phillips in the lineup. Phillips in the 2 hole frightens me.

Are you kidding me?

The ump is stinking up the joint. The first pitch to Hatteberg was a strike call at the ankles. The first two pitches to Austin Kearns were no more strikes "clipping" the outside corner than a zebra is red and black. He finally swung at that same pitch because the ump's been calling it a strike.!

Ok...inning summary...

Our PITCHER leads off the inning with a single.

Our leadoff batter hits into a double play.

Brandon Phillips strikes out in 3 pitches.

I don't know if these guys are aware, but JUAN FREAKING CRUZ is shutting them out through 6 innings, making them look bad. Really BAD.

I was thinking, wouldnt Webb pitching to Casey with a man on first be the ultimate double play combo!
With the way it's been lately, it could be anyone pitching to the Reds' offense with a man on first

Better question: How was Larkin not a leader?

Larkin didn't have a positive attitude. He led by complaining and blaming others. A leader, yes, but a negative leader. Of course I'll have all the Larkin fans who think he can do no wrong because he's their favorite player cry otherwise, but remember his complaining about being underpaid all the time? Remember his diminishing skills and 3 year $27 million contract? Remember the infamous walk out with Jr. at the end of the year? Remember when he got Jack McKeon fired? Remember when he wouldn't move from SS?

Barry was a great player that led by example for most of the '90s, but when he was thrust into the leadership role as Captain and it became expected of him to be a role model for the younger players he failed. He became negative and critical and the guy that had always worked hard and kept his mouth shut started talking too much and resting on the past. It's ashame because he could've been an icon and instead just left a bad taste in the mouth by his actions towards the end of his career.

Another loss, we're falling back to earth now. I'm not expecting playoffs, if we finish above .500 and are able to drop Milton and/or Griffey contracts during the year I would call this a great success.
