$50 bucks.

And three of the games ended bad and we KNOW how it ended ;)

Even worse, I just spent $30 on three LPs-turned into-CD's of Reds Highlights from 70, 72, & 75.

On edit - if they do this for 76 & 90 - they need to do it for half the ptrice

Wow, I paid $30 on EBay for a dvd of game six. The quality was pretty bad, it had been recorded from a vhs tape.

It would be nice if they still had the commercials in the mlb set. That was one of the best parts of the dvd I bought. I had forgotten all about the "rich, corinthian leather" of the Chrysler Cordoba.

Ricardo was the original Latin American pimp.

Those commercials alone make the tape well worth what you paid.

Yeah may have to get this if it's complete and well done.

One of the things I've been looking for is the post-series celebration on Fountain Square - the Bob Braun show at the time covered it I believe.

Seeing the clothes the players wore and the old downtown area and all the people, brought back a lot of memories, ecspecially a "young" Joe Nuxhall and Marty leading the scene. They replayed this on TV a while back one day.

Why in the world this needs "7" DVD discs is beyond me - they should be able to fit all of it on 2-3 at most I would think - but oh well.

Each game is 2.5-3 hours long, plus the four-hour Game 6 marathon, plus DVD extras. 7 discs doesn't seem ridiculous.

They would be short and sweet. The Reds blew out the Pirates in three games. Game three did go extra innings but you knew the Reds were going to win it eventually. I would really like to see the 1972 NL Playoffs. That was one great series, especially game five! I wonder if MLB is eventually going to release all World Series and playoff games, in the TV era, on DVD?

I'll just say, that I have this opinion of the "Red Sox Game 6 DVD" write up.

Sox threaten in the 6th, and a 0-0 game.

Geromino throws out Lynn trying to score from 3rd to end the inning. The guy has the best arm in baseball.

And Foster, who had 2 steals all year, gets thrown at trying to steal 2B with 0 outs and Griffey at the plate (who then dbls ;) ).

It's too bad there isn't a way to watch these games and have a Game Thread.

Could be alot of fun.

Hey! You are going to spoil the ending for me. I'm only up to the 5th inning of game one.;) The Reds hit into a lot of bad luck early in the game. Quite a few line drives right at someone. I think Tiant will get tired and the Reds will get to him. :D

A question for those of you that have watched game one through the 6th inning. In the sixth inning, is the sound not synched up with the picture? On my dvd it is about 30 seconds behind. I went skipped over to the 8th inning and it seemed fine. Maybe just a glitch for that inning they couldn't fix or maybe it's just my copy of the dvd. Anyone else have this problem?

It is RIC. And the DVD packaging is awesome (individual DVD covers). It lists, inside and out, all types of stats and highlights for that particular game, the box scores - even game time temperature, attendance, and individual player tidbits.

The DVDs also have highlights such as pre-game interviews and clubhouse celebrations.

I watched game seven last night---Reds win!!!
I did notice a few things from watching the game as it was broadcast more than 30 years ago. Unless it was edited out, replays were few and far between. Tony Perez's big 6th inning HR off Bill Lee's blooper pitch to bring the Reds back into the game was never shown on replay; today, such a HR would be replayed endlessly.
Carlton Fisk later commented that he didn't understand why he was batting ahead of Fred Lynn in game six. I wonder why Lynn was only batting fifth in the lineup in game seven. The Red Sox batting order lead off with Carbo, Doyle, Yastremzski, Fisk and then Lynn. Lynn wasn't batting fifth because a southpaw, Don Gullett, was starting for the Reds, as evidenced by the other lefties batting ahead of him in the lineup. I'm guessing that Boston manager Darrell Johnson was an old school manager who thought that he had to have his best power hitters batting 3rd through 5th in the lineup, with a tablesetter (Doyle) ahead of them (he did bat Carbo, who was red hot, leadoff). I wonder if Johnson had second thoughts in the ninth, as this lineup kept Lynn from batting another time, with the top of the order going out 1-2-3, the final out being made by Yaz. His lineup kept the AL's best hitter and AL MVP from batting one more time in a one run game. I'm glad Johnson didn't have Lynn batting second in that game.
It was fun to watch Lee slip a blooper pitch by Perez the first time Perez came to bat, knowing what would happen when Lee came back with that pitch in the 6th.
