Flip Aurila and Hatteberg with Dunn and Kearns (either order) and the lineup looks better.

Put Ross in there where he belongs and looks even better.

Try this

Freel
Lopez
Dunn
Kearns
Hatteberg
Aurilia
Phillips
Ross
Harang

With that...let's break out the brooms!

I like Narron too, but that he takes 2 hot hitters out of the lineup (Ross and Griffey), puts Hat 3rd and Aurilia 4th makes him look insane. The one time we seem to have the Cards number and a chance to tie for the division lead against a 4-0 pitcher with an under 3 ERA and he benches his two hottest players?

Maybe his sanity is in question. Rest Griffey on Sunday or any day but today. Same with Ross.

FSN's Reds game just did an 8.5 share on TV -- the team is winning games and there is a genuine buzz in the city about the team.

They're going to have a fantastic walk-up crowd for every date this coming weekend, and the fans want to see the best possible lineup out there. Makes no sense to give Griffey a day off in front of a paying home crowd.

Maybe I'm thinking too much and giving Narron too much credit, though.

Matt700wlw
06-07-2006, 06:33 PM
Griffey not in the lineup because of tightness in his quad from scoring from first.

Not Narron's choice, just a precaution to keep him healthy for the long haul - they feel it's nothing that can't be taken care of with a night off. He is available to pinch hit if needed.

I just found this out.

What makes no sense is having Aurilia bat 4th ahead of Dunn. Hatteberg third I can understand because of the great OBP. But unless you think Aurilia needs protection, he should be batting behind Dunn and arguably behind Kearns as well.

I don't know. I say let Ross play while he's hot and when he stops being hot let Larue get playing time then. In the mean time Larue can catch 1-2 times a week. With those two guys on teh roster I don't really care to see Valentin start at all and I'd just use him as the LH PH.

No he was. Berry was sending Griffey (which EE saw) then EE looked back to see where the ball was (which almost everyone does), and when he turned back to pick up Berry again he was stopping Junior.
