Perhaps not; but until they show good faith by shelling out the money to compete at the deadline (for a starter) in the absence of better fan turnout, they're nothing but the same franchise waiting to see if I come out before they put a winner on the field.

That's backwards. They're selling a product TO ME, not the other way around.

I continue to marvel at his quick bat, the burgeoning eye he is showing at the plate, and his humongous range at 2b. I have no idea how such an outsized talent was available for cash. On the Dunn frustration...at some point, he will come out of this, and then it will be him that will carry the team for awhile. The nice thing about this offense at this point, is that so many are now capable of having the big game or big hit that it allows individuals to ride out slumps without killing the team in the process...

I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop -- but his DIPS ERA is getting lower and lower while his actual ERA stays low as well. His BABIP is no longer badly out of whack with norms (up to around a .280 mark -- closer to the average of .300).

With each start, Arroyo looks less like a fluke and more like the real deal.

I have a question for you baseball players out there...where do you think Arroyo (and El Duque et al) got that pretty leg kick? Is it something a coach will teach to a young kid, and if so it is a technique that certain coaches preach and only a few of their pitchers make it to the big leagues, or is it something that Arroyo may have been taught simply because it suited him? Is it possible he picked it up even later, after he had been drafted?

There's probably no definitive answer to this, but I'd like to hear speculation. I love to watch him pitch just because he's so aesthetically pleasing -- great form, posture all around, that leg kick and straight back.

Up until the 70's a lot of pitchers had a leg kick like that (Joey Jay for one) he probably ran across someone who was schooled in that manner.

I play High School baseball, and I can tell you it doesn't come from the coaches for sure. When somebody has a funky deliever like Arroyo or the D-Train they try to change that early and go back to a normal delievery.

When you get to the high school level like I am now, they don't try and change you from doing your leg kick, but the certainly don't teach it.

It is something that comes from a player, not coach.
