Ross is going to be the everyday catcher, one would have to believe. Larue has got to be traded in the next week. He's useless sitting on the bench.

Claussen's going to throw a shutout tonight.

Honestly, it wouldn't shock me.

Then again, it wouldn't shock me if he threw 115 pitches in 5 inning giving up 6 or 7 runs.

His inconsistantcy is his only consistantcy.

I have a bad feeling Claussen's going to do a nice Dave Williams impression tonight - get rocked for a lot of runs early, thus inspiring the Reds bats to carry him to victory.

Think we win a high-scoring game, 'bout 8-6.

Zambrano had a great game in the start prior to this one, hopefully he used up all his mojo and was on the computer alot after it so the reds can jump on him quick tonight.

note: Zambrano got tendinitis in his forearm last year because he was on his computer so much with his pals in Venezuela

Don't tell me Hatteberg swung at a 3-0 pitch?

No, took it right down the middle.

I am not sure how I feel about some hitters taking 3-0 pitches. The whole green light thing seems VERY over-rated. It seems far to often that the pitcher gets a free pass to a 3-1 count, than gets punished by a walk. I know its unorthodox, but I would not mind more selective, patient hitters get the proverbial "go."

Claussen Ks Perez, walks Z, Pierre up with 1 out.

I think it depends on who you are facing as a hitter. Zambronio could throw a strike at anytime. He did not want to pitch to Dunn or Jr. I would be more inclined to give a hitter a green light when I know the pitcher has better control and seems to have command of his pitches.

Last night is a perfect example when you needed to take pitches. Dempster was out of control, no command of his pitches. Phillips and especially Griffey needed to take more pitches...hell he could have thrown one in the dirt and tied the game. Poor hitting.

Coffey is the closer, you don't bring him in there.that's what happens when you are stuck in a box and do not understand game and situation and so you let a bad pitcher decide the outcome of a game simply because a pitcher had been defined as a "closer".

Just another reason to bash Narron.the role of the modern closer is simply a manifestation of people who don't have a proper understanding of the leverage of a given situation. I don't care what another manager would have done. All I know is the goal should be have your best relievers pitching the most important outs. The modern closer is a recent invention mainly of Larussa and there is little logic in it or any flexibility allowed in it's usage. No thinking outside the box is allowed.
