How many more starts do we give Claussen before we either move him into the pen or to Louisville (not sure if he has options left)? I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, Claussen has the stuff but I question whether he has the mental game to succeed in the majors.

A left-handed center fielder going to his right to field the ball and then going to second isn't the easiest thing to do. He made an excellent throw, don't know how he could have done it any better or faster.

On another note......get Claussen out please!!!!!!!! Bring in Mays and let's see what he can do.

I don't think he is injured. His velocity is pretty much the same. He just isn't keeping the ball down or pitching aggressively (inside). In my opinion his problems are in his head. I'm not a pitching coach though, just my best guess.

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but sometimes I wonder if the Yankees knew something that we didn't, when that trade was made.

The Yankees knew the Reds wanted money in 2003. The cash they gave us for Gabe White (in a later trade) was enough. Claussen was coming off surgury but had good enough numbers pre-surgery to make the trade look palatable to the fans.

2003 was a pure disaster. The Reds were lucky that Harang worked as hard as he did to seize the opportunity of starting.

Observations from the game. Just got back and here are some random thoughts about tonights so-called baseball game.

1) Pretty nice crowd at the stadium. 30k+ I believe. Unfortuntaly, the White Sox fans were louder than the Reds fans. Durring the 1st inning they chanted "Paulie" when Kernorko came to the plate and it was overwhelming.

2) Claussen, as we all know, was downright miserable. He was done from the 1st pitch on and it got worse from there. I don't know if he's hurt, has totally lost his confidence or generally has just lost it but in any of these options the result is the same. Horrible. And he made two horrible defensive plays in the 3rd to further sink his own boat.

3) Marty B and Hal McCoy were both convinced that Claussen would be pulled from the rotation before his next start in New York.

4) Dunn made a really good defensive play, taking a hit on the short-hop and then throwing out the runner at home plate. Unfortunatley, he also went 0-4.

5) Rick White came in and promptly gave up more runs. Why he continues to pitch on this club is beyond me.

Ok, there it is. Nothing here is very shocking, but I thought I'd pass along my observations from tonights disaster at GABP.

I would think that too, but I don't know who you put in the rotation. I'd hate to see Joe Mays there, no matter how good he's looked in relief lately. How long until Belisle comes back?
