scrappy vet bats cleanup

catcher bats 8th

keep it lefty righty

All ex-catchers turned manager know the secret formula to a great lineup.

As with seasons past, when the autopsy's over and the cause of death is given for this Reds season it won't be bad lineups but they sure are a chronic irritation.

It just doesn't make sense...except the last 2 times I ripped on Narron for doing this, RA went yard in the 1st inning. Let's go for the Hat(te) Trick...

NARRON, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING BATTING RA 4TH? DO YOU OWE HIM MONEY? DOES HE HAVE PICTURES OF YOU HANDING OUT PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS TO PLAYERS? WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS ABSURDITY???

Hitters shouldn't have to change their approach because of a stupid umpire's inconsistent strikezone. I would rather Dunn take a pitch 4-6 inches off the plate rather than swing and pop it up weakly.

or K looking. ;)

Did he even swing at a pitch during that AB? There were two thrown right down the pike as far as I'm concerned.

He put himself in a hole.

Pull that pitch up on gametracker or CBS Sportsline. It was way to close for him to have the bat on his shoulder.

I pesonally thought it was a good pitch - could have gone either way. Caught the corner.

And yes, a hitter does need to change his approach when he is down with an 0-2 count. Protect the plate, or you're gonna be walking back to the dugout with bat in hand. ;)

He swung at the first pitch.

The called strike three was at least four inches outside, probably closer to six. That pitch is unhittable and should never, ever be called a strike. It was just another ridiculous strike call against Dunn. Umps continue to screw him for some reason.

Pretty sure it was a fastball...and ask anyone on here who is watching the game they will tell you that pitch was waaaay outside. And Gametracker is a horrible source for location of balls and strikes. It never disagrees with the umpire's call.

I know what gametracker is. If an umpire calls a pitch 10 inches off the plate a strike, gametracker lists the pitch on the outside corner instead of placing it outside. That's what I meant when I said it never disagrees with an ump.

Gametracker doesn't agree or disagree with an ump. It just shows location.and is often incorrect. I spent some time comparing the game to the tracker and quickly came to the conclusion that Gametracker often bears little resemblance to the correct pitch location.

The only way I'd have Castro in there is late innings. They were right to put Freel at 3B.

I just hope it doesn't come back to bite me, because I think Freel is shaky defensively at 3B - down right reckless IMO.

All part of the game.

Players know these umps (or should) after seeing all the games they call and are involved in.
