Reds Hall of Fame, whats the selection process?

Is there a selection process for Reds HOFers? I assume there must be a wait period, otherwise Larkin would be out there with Seaver, May and Browning induction day.

Wonder who else from the 1990 Reds will get in. Rijo, Browning, Davis are in, Larkin will be.

How have players been elected?

From 1958-'88, players were selected by a fan vote. Ballots were printed in the newspapers. After a nine-year hiatus, the Hall of Fame was revived in 1998 by the Cincinnati chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and the COO of the Reds, John Allen. The writers, whose national organization selects the players for the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, elected the players to the Reds Hall of Fame from 1998-2004.

In 2004, the Board of Directors of the new Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum decided to return the vote to the fans. The writers retained an active voice in the process by identifying the players to be placed on the fan ballot.

I think you have to be a Red for 5 years. So, that leaves a guy, for example, like Randy Myers out. (not that I think he should be in)

I don't know enough about Harry Craft, but in Granger's defense, he was second only to Clay Carrol in Saves and Carrol did his in about 8 years, to just three for Granger. Of course they both pitched in an era when Saves were not a dime a dozen.

Both didn't play enough to qualify for "Hall of Fame" status IMO, Wayne is 150th in Reds history in IP, right behind Jim Brosnan , who was perhaps the best relief pitcher (vs the league average) that the Reds had for over 2 season in the 60's. He had the exact same impact as Granger from where I sit.

Bur what makes either a Reds HOF member?

I'll say that Scott Sullivan is more of a Red HOF player than either Granger or Brosnan.

Actually, the requirement is only three years.

Personally, I think it should be five. (But then they didn't ask me.)
