I tell ya, I'm thrilled that Castro is starting in place of EdE. Because I know the Reds will need Castro's "defense" more than they need EdE's range and bat against one of the best pitchers in the NL Central, and a guy who routinely eats the Reds for lunch.

But I guess as long as Castro remains the 25th man, I shouldn't complain.

I'll say: Brew Crew 7, Reds 3

I think it's a travesty EE isn't up with the big club. It's obvious he's healthy. If Narron and/or Krivsky dislikes him that much then he should be dealt. No excuses that he should be in AAA.

RA/Castro--doesn't matter. Where they're positioned on a given day doesn't matter a bit.

I was told I was overreacting when I griped about Castro as the "25th man"--well, both Freel and Edwin have been cast aside for the likes of Castro (and Aurilia, too). When can I anticipate the arrival of Christian Guzman?

If Lopez was traded for much needed pitching help, with Freel going to 2nd, and Phillips becoming the everyday SS, that would improve the Reds.

Now, Castro as the full time SS in another thing.

Fine, Pedro. Then it should have already happened. Period. This team has been weakened in the last week by keeping EE's bat in AAA. No question about that. They have diddled and dallied and waited and hoped that someone would get hurt and make their decision for them. And that is stupid. Stupid to put themselves in a position where you mothball one of your team's best players. And that is what they did by bringing in Castro. No, I don't think Castro will go when WK finally gets off the pot, but I do think his presence here has sentenced EE to AAA while everyone hopes something will happen.

This is NOT one of WK's finest moments since he took over. At. All.

Juan Castro has started 3 of the last 4 games. That should never, ever happen. And that was my main complaint when they reacquired him - a manager like Narron getting Castro on the roster means Narron finding new ways to start Castro. Thats a bad thing. Castro should start 3 games per 100, not 3 out of 4 - ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Oh, did I mention ever.

As pedro has already eloquently pointed out - that is not the argument that was put forth on the first page of this thread.

That is.... Castro being on the roster.

But no - Castro is not keeping EE in AAA. An immediate roster move will be made when EE returns shortly.

You guys keep changing your stories on this EE thing.... first it was RA that got the blunt of your wrath. Now it's Castro simply being on the roster.

Valiums for everyone! EE will be back and standing at 3B very soon.

Until then - we now return you to your regularly scheduled rant.

I'm on vacation at a resort, and gonna head back down to the Gitchigoome Grill and toss a few back in memorium to EE!

GAC, read my response above (#32). Period. Castro's presence has caused them to delay while they make up their mind. If someone else had to go to make room to get EE back, then it should have done, one frickin' week ago. This whole thing is criminally stupid on the organization's part.

He shouldn't start regularly. It's fine if he does sometimes. He should be a late inning defensive replacement, primarily...(and has done well his last 2 starts). I believe Krivsky said that from his own mouth.

That's assuming that the Reds have no larger moves in play. It may well be that at the end of the season we'll look back at their handling of EE and say "what the hell were they thinking", and while I agree that it is somewhat perplexing right now we really don't know what they are thinking at this point. I'll judge Krivsky based on what he's accomplished at the end of the season.

Phillips also made a dumb out, but he gets a pass on it.

No he dosen't get a pass, but base stealers get picked from time to time, it happens. He was leaning. If baserunners were never picked off, no one would throw over. If it happens a lot you have a problem. If you get picked 2 or 3 times a year and steal 25-30 bases, thats exceptable. With that being said, if you are not a base stealer, you should never get picked off..never. If Valentine gets picked, its a bone head play.

There is NEVER an excuse for what Dunn did, that should never happen.

It's a mere matter of time before this team completes its' "regression to the mean." They've been whistling past the graveyard for weeks now.

A team that has the worst bullpen in the game, questionable to downright bad defense, inconsistent offense and starting pitching, and an inability to win at home is not making the playoffs, regardless of how bad the division may be.

Hell, these Brewers will likely be a game behind us when this series has concluded.

I would have loved to have seen, if the internet had been invented during the 1968 season.....some people here, following the Cards that year, and posting whenever Bob Gibson gave up a run or 2, that he was not a true No. 1 pitcher who did not know how to win games when his team did not score him any runs.

I never solely blamed Narron, or Krivsky. The organization as a whole owns this cluster(mess). From Narron's obsessive vet love, which WK enables by mothballing EE, to anyone else who has had a chance to say something like "Damn guys. This is pretty dumb what we are doing right here" and has not said so. They all share in this. As to what portions each are at fault, I don't really care. What I do care about is that an on-going dumb-as-hell situation continues with no reason for it.

A few seem OK with that, but WK and Narron have NOT earned a blind trust from me at this point, and this situation simply underscores why.

I think i have lost all my feel, after the last few years here on RZ, for sarcastic posts. Unless they are accompanied by disclaimers.

Everyone.....has a "get on him guy" or "defend him guy"...no matter what.

When this team loses.....the digs go deeper and sometimes make no sense.

Sample size only counts when it's directed at the players we hate or wish they were banished to the cornfields.

Maybe we need more Billy Mummy and less George Grande.

No matter how many times Castro starts (and more than once every 2 weeks is too much for me also) A bench player has to start sometime or somewhere.
No one here is ever happy when castro ever starts......and up until the last few games, he had barely been starting.

As oneupper pointed out......WK got caught up in a roster log jame that has currently backfied on him and the team. Is that a nice way of putting it?
We just want to see someone gone so EE is back here.......so then people can commence as soon as he goes 0 for 10 and makes a few errors ..how much more time EE still needed and that castro needs to give him a breather.

Perfect summation.

Well, if BA loses this game you can blame it on me... went out today and bought this month's Cincinnati Magazine with him on cover. I even told the lady behind the counter that he'll probably win...

I heard an ugly rumor that it even says what part of town he lives in. I was under the impression that was classified information. ;)
