That's Narron's fault. Why on earth would you call for a squeeze against the second hardest thrower in the Central?

exactly. poor call by Narron.

I have never liked the suicide squeeze. Bad execution of a bad decision.

He probably figured LaRue had a better chance of bunting the ball....than actually trying to hit the ball on a swing.

That has to be one of the dumbest damned calls I have EVER seen in all my years as a baseball fan.

All that momentum....game tied, and with virtually any sort of contact, we take the lead. Yet Narron calls a suicide squeeze with LaUseless? What the hell is with this guy? Does he WANT Reds fans to hate him?

This call would almost be excusable if we had a guy up there who could handle the bat, but this is LaUseless we're talking about - against Mr. 98 mph Capellan, no less.

Idiocy - thy name is Jerry Narron.

reds44
07-05-2006, 11:02 PM
It was a good call by Narron. All Larue had to do was get the bunt down, and the play works to perfection.

Think of the situation, LaRue is the 8 hitter hitting .178 and the pitcher is on deck. You call the squeeze, and everything up until LaRue bunting goes right. All laRue had to do was bunt the ball on the ground.

That one goes on Jason, not Jerry. Sometimes players don't execute.

Meanwhile EZ is mowing them down. Where did all of the EZ doubters go?

Narron playing Hatteberg shows why he is a major league manager, Narron knows what he is doing.

Dave Miley played Ryan Freel - really gave him his major league shot. I guess that showed he was a major league manager, knew what he was doing?

Just playing a guy who has been hot all year shows nothing. And this isn't a post claiming Narron is a good or a bad manager - just that your logic is severely flawed

I think Narron went with the squeeze because the two possible outcomes ended with LaRue..
Either tied 3-3 or up 4-3 (Ramirez making the last out).

If LaRue had taken a walk, he would have been forced to hit for Ramirez and go to the bullpen.

Such is the bullpen adversion of Jerry Narron.

It's almost as if the Brewers were designed with beating the Reds in mind.

They have a bunch of guys who hit really well vs. bad pitching.

They have one middle reliever who throws really hard and can take care of righties (Capellen), and another who can get out the lefties in the meat of our order (Shouse).

They have a closer who can do just enough to escape with a victory. They are our nemesis.

Only thing I can figure is that LaRue has been so woefully inept at making contact this year that he figured it was his best chance to get the run in.

I look at it this way: He either suicide squeezes with LaRue to try and get the run in before 2 outs come, or he pinch hits for Ramirez w/ 2 out and we're stuck with an additional inning of bullpen work.

That's how I think the thought went. No run, but Elizardo went an extra inning of work.

My only claim to fame at a Reds game was to get an entire outfield section at old Cinergy to start chanting "WIL-SON...YOU-SUCK" at Craig Wilson during a particularly brutal Pirates game.

You could actually hear it on the radio mic.

I was so proud.
