NC Reds

Kearns is my boy, but he has had two stinker AB's this game. You have to get the runner over from 2nd with no one out. Of course he had the double play earlier with the runners at first and third too. His triple was outstanding. I just wish he was more consistent.

We should have scored, they should have scored...it all even outs:confused:

They didn't score because Weathers made a great pitch and Lee hit into a DP.

We didn't score because we hammered the pitch (twice) but made outs.

I don't feel "even steven" here.

That great pitch was a rope down the line. If "A" was not playing on the line it would have been a double. With bases loaded with one out...you should score. If Kearns advanced Phillips, we would be up a run.

I would agree with that. They're hanging around in this thing, and seem to be the only team improving.

If you take things like talent, meaningful situations, and attendance out of the equation, you could make an argument that Reds-Brewers is the best rivalry in baseball.

Krivsky is low on Shafer -- says he doens't have a big league fastball and thinks his two trips to the DL are worrisome -- possibly indication that he's already pressing with his stuff at AA.

Injured pitchers Grant Balfour (right elbow/shoulder), Paul Wilson (right shoulder) and Brandon Claussen (left shoulder), as well as injured third baseman Edwin Encarnacion (left ankle), all appear closer to rejoining the club relatively soon.
Claussen and Balfour threw live batting practice at Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. Claussen threw 90 pitches, 36 of which were on the field and 54 in the bullpen due to a rain delay. Balfour threw 35 pitches, also broken up because of the delay.

"Claussen felt good, he didn't have any pain," said head trainer Mark Mann. "He'll throw a bullpen session [Thursday] and go from there depending on how he feels."

If Claussen reports no pain again, Reds manager Jerry Narron said the left-hander could begin his rehab as early as Sunday. Mann said it would be likely that Claussen would make three total rehab starts for Louisville.

"Louisville is at home for a long stretch and it would be convenient in as far as travel goes," Mann said.

Balfour also reported no pain and will throw live batting practice again in Louisville on Friday. Wilson will join him.

Encarnacion is scheduled to play in a doubleheader on Wednesday for Louisville, and Narron said it's possible he could rejoin the team in Atlanta.

"We'll see how he does tonight," Narron said.
