Remember Lance Davis? He was the starting pitcher for the Mudhens tonight. He currently has a 4.21 ERA. Does anyone know what happened to him between Cincinnati and Toledo?

Remember Lance Davis? He was the starting pitcher for the Mudhens tonight. He currently has a 4.21 ERA. Does anyone know what happened to him between Cincinnati and Toledo?

Shoulder injury, spousal abuse problems, and a hard dose of "he wasn't nearly as good as everyone thought he was in 2001" if I remember correctly.

Davis (24), Chris Reitsma (23), Brian Reith (23) and Jose Acevedo (23) all made their big league debuts that season, and were all pitching in the rotation at just about the same time as rookies. They, and some combination of Ty Howington, Chris Gruler, etc. were supposed to be the young guns that led the Reds into GABP in 2003.

Fun Fact: David Espinosa is also a member of that Toledo Mudhens squad.

Looks like he was in the Independent league in 04 and 05.
