Wise leading off, EE batting 4th. I might have put BP 1st instead of Wise but Edwin is playing, Royce isn't playing, and Rich isn't batting 4th, so i'm not complaining.

A little surprised that Denorfia is out so soon. Perhaps he tweaked something on his dash to first, or perhaps they want to have a good look at Wise before more roster moves are made. Or perhaps they are rewarding his dash for home.

Patrick Bateman

Wise at lead-off is a little strange. He has very good speed, but he's also a big time out machine.

In the majors he has a career .243 OBP in almost 300 at-bats, while in the minors, he has a career .305 OBP.

I hope Narron doesn't make a habit of including him in the line-up while also batting him lead-off. Nothing good will come of it. His sole purpose on the team should be to play the OF as a late inning replacement, or as a pinch runner.

Maybe Deno went all Arroyo on his birthday and is too hungover to play today.

Each team has hit a player. I doubt any of it was on purpose, so it's just an umpire being over cautious.

Elizardo is a perfect back of the rotation guy.

13 starts this year:
- 6+ IP in 10
- 3 ER or fewer in 10

The guy may not "win" us many games. He's not the type of guy who goes out and shuts people down. But he won't lose us many games either. If he can continue to put pu a low 4's ERA and a WHIP around 1.30, he's going to be in the majors for a long time. This is a classic case of looking at what a guy can do rather than what he can't. If we can slot him in every 5th day and not worry about filling that spot with the Jimmy Haynes' and Randy Kiesler's of the world, we'll be a better team for it.

Was it a good throw, or did Phillips bobble it?

Phillips caught the ball with his foot on the bag and lost it when he tried to pull it out of the glove to make the throw to 1st. I don't think he'd have had the out at 1B even if he'd controlled the ball out of the glove because the runner took him out hard. But the runner at 2B should have been Out. As it ends up, I don't see that it cost the Reds.

Like some have mentioned, I don't think the offense loses much if we have our best eight on the field, but with Narron's man-love for Aurilia and obsession with putting lineups out there involving two or three position players who can't hit, we're going to struggle mightily.
