This Kearns/Lopez trade doesn't look right to me. On its face, it looks like insanity. Something else is going on here; whether it is attitude issues with our current guys, or injuries, or something. I guess Kriv has a free pass right now with me for Arroyo, Phillips, Ross, Womack, etc. Those would be some big credentials, and one which I figured I would lay back from second guessing for awhile. But I gotta tell you, I think this one just used up the free pass.

Nonetheless, Brendan Harris was a top prospect as late as 2003 per Baseball Prospectus, ahead of: Francisco Rodriguez, Cabrera, Khalil Green, David Wright, Youkilis and in the top 20 with Texeira, Phillips (at 6), Rich Harden, Mauer, Matsui.

One of the BP guys went so far as to compare Harris with Pujols two years earlier. Hyperbole? Sure. But at some point, this guy had something.

interesting that Harris' SLG didn't drop til steroid testing was introduced...

Whatever! This trade was a great call. No one wanted to see Kearnsy go but we wanted to make the playoffs more!

I think this is a good trade...it gave the Reds what they needed and did so without weakening the team...in fact we improved the defens and BP...We had offense to give up so I give it

As fans we don't have 1% of the information that the guys in the front office do. Give Krivsky credit for knowing what the hell he's doing.

As fans we don't have 1% of the information that the guys in the front office do. actually, we know considerably more than that, and in the case of the previous regime, far too many of even the most casual fans knew more than O'Brien.

Minors has had testing for almost 10 years. I just think he reached the ceiling of his potential. Happens all the times for a million other reasons.

i agree. i have no knowledge of wheather or not Harris was juicing, nor do i really care. it was merely something i noticed. i think if he had been juicing its more likely he'd be hurt more than has been and his AVG to drop more than it did. the PCL is also a hitters league, and i think the Southern league is too for that matter.

The Minor Leagues began testing for steroids in 2001.
