Does anyone know what the line ups are going to be tonight?

On a side note. I went to the game Friday and say both Bray and Majewski warm up. During the seventh while Harang was struggling they had Bray and Coffee warming up. Then after Harang struck out the last two batters they sat the two down and had Majewski warm up. They is the first time I had watched either of the two pitch. I personaly thought that Bray looked very impressive. Majewski looked good too, but I thought Bray looked better. So far everyone has made Majewski to be the staple of the trade. Thoughts anyone?

Lineups normalling get posted on yahoo or espn around an hour prior to the trade.

I think Bray was the key to the whole deal in the Reds eyes.

Chris Denorfia RF

Adam Dunn LF

Ken Griffey Jr. CF

Aurilia 3B

Scott Hatteberg 1B

Brandon Phillips 2B

Royce Clayton SS

Jason LaRue C

Eric Milton P

No Edwin again. Instead, another game with Aurillia batting cleanup.

Fantastic:rolleyes:

It isn't as much him batting 4th as him in the lineup at all, at least when you consider who is on the pine as a result. Starting Aurillia over Encarnacian is plain dumb.

Not to mention Clayton...

Petitt33

Aurilia needs to be in the lineup but not fourth and playing third base. Put him at short, Edwin at third, Phillips at 2nd, and Hatteberg at first.

I don't understand why you take Edwin's hot bat out of the lineup, though.

Aurilia's defense isnt any better than is Edwins. Edwin makes plays Rich wishes he could. Edwin will throw some in the seats. At best its a wash, and Edwin is a MUCH better hitter than Rich. Makes no sense.

There's been defensive ratings that have been posted on here that say otherwise. EE made a fantastic play the other day, but he also threw a wide throw to Phillips that resulted in an error that was quite costly. It's great to make the highlights, but you have to make the routine plays also.

Wasn't Marty the first one to call that Dunn should bat in the 2 hole? If Dunn keeps batting this well I think Narron should ship his lineup card to Marty every game.

Not sure why he was running on that pitch other than to pad his stats. With first base open, the Mets were pretty eager to walk LaRue... so the SB was a needless risk that amounted to not much.

HR by Nady. Well, I guess if Milty is going to give them up, they might as well be solo ones. Valentin follows that up with a pop out. 1-0 Mets.

Exactly, if you had the volume on with George and Chris they have Hatcher microphoned up tonight. He told Clayton not to steal if that happened.

Welsh: "This isn't really a stolen-base situation for Clayton, but you do want to get a big leadoff in case LaRue hits a double."

Hatcher to Clayton, very clearly: "Let's get LaRue a couple swings. At least a couple... if you get a couple strikes we'll steal the base."

(FWIW, he went on a 1-1 count. )

Welsh: "Well I don't know much about that then."

At least we don't have Todd Walker playing 2B... we won't suffer the indignity of 2 GSs. I saw Do Luca get walked, and I figgured he was batting 8 and was okay with it. Then I saw he was batting 2 with Beltran behind him and wondered why the hell Jerry didn't swap him out.... I'm still wondering that. At least Standridge can pitch tongiht without much fear of tack on runs. Give Bray/Majik/Coffey/Merc/Dave/Eddie the night off, just let Jason go the last 2 innings.

keeganbrick
07-18-2006, 09:15 PM
What was Narron thinking, it looked like he was waiting to get Milton through that inning so he could pinch hit for him. I have no idea why he would do that but I think they actually sat Coffey back down when Clayton got out in btm 6th.

I'm with you there.
You just can't kill off the Braves. You think you can, but you can't. But given a choice as to whether I want to see the Braves or Cardinals win today, I'll take Atlanta hands down. Any day the Cardinals lose is a good day for me.

I said in my head when Beltran came to the plate "Chances of a Grand Slam - 100%." Then I thought I was being a little negative, and pushed it down to 99%. Turns out I was right the first time.

Now, if I could see it coming, why couldn't Jerry?

I want to start saying I told my wife the bullpen pen should have been heating to begin the 7th as Milton's past history is not good. EAch bater that got on I said pull him. We just got within 1 so don't screw it up. BUT I can tell you why Narron rolled the dice..Beltran was batting .218 vs lefties and that is no doubt what he was banking on. BUT also has he not seen enough of Uncle Milty in the past?? I darn near thry my cup thru the big screen!

Dunner44

This is the first game in a while Milty's been tagged for 3 homers. He had it down to one a game or so for a while. But putting him in there vs. Beltran, no matter what his numbers, was tempting fate far too much.

Oh, and yes, one more season of everyone's least favorite uncle.

I just dont understand (this isnt the first time either) how I can sit here, just a fan, and could manage a game better than Narron. Why would you sit Coffey down once he already started warming up, with the top of the lineup coming up? Its just gets soo frustrating sometimes dealing with this. Narron has to be one of the worst managers at trying to figure out when to pull a starter and who to bring in the game to replace them.

Dunner44

I *usually* like Narron's lineups, even if they are vet heavy. He just needs a good bench coach who can help him with ptiching changes.

I agee it does seem obvious to us or any baseball fan with common sense . But i guess while it seems obvious to us jerry seems rather oblivious to the fact that milton didnt have his best stuff tonight seemed like he couldnt keep the ball down to save his life tonight. Is it me or has narron managing skills taken a turn for the worst since he got his contract extension.

Just jumping in here, but I am livid with Narrons decision to keep Milton in the ballgame going into the 7th. Especialy after he had the opportunity to pull him with basesloaded. Im really pesimistic about Naron leading the reds to the promiseland. We're playing a great team we have to play smart! Narons a MORON. The whole 7th Im like why is he still in there? I was at the game tonight and I am still steaming mad. I will never pay good money when I know Eric Milton is starting a game. With the humidity, I knew going in he was going to give up a bomb or two. The first three runs were no big deal...he was not throwing badly even though he was topping out at about 91 on the gun and for him to be successful, he needs to be able to hit 93-94 on occasion.

But, Narron fell asleep at the wheel tonight. This Loss can be squarely hung on his narrow little head. He blew it completely. Milton was done! No excuses!!!

Other observances:

EE sitting on the bench is just ridiculous! This kid needs to play. We are not a contender to win it all. Let the kid learn on the job.

Jose Reyes is the fastest man in baseball. Scoring from first base on the Lo Duca double was very impressive.

Pelphrey succeeded tonight on a consistent 95 mph fastball and little else. He's a big guy and appears to get on top of hitters quickly.

BP is pulling off the ball badly. He just needs to make some adjustments.

As much as I will personally miss Felipe Lopez, Royce Clayton is not terrible. He's got good hands and good instincts at short and he handles the bat decently.

Narron owes the fans an apology for tonight's turdburger.
