View Full Version : The necessity to get a #3 or #4 starter has never been greater...

For this reason: the Reds are stuck with Milton for another year. The ONLY way to squeeze 12 wins out of the guy is to pitch him for 6 or 7 innings MAX and skip his starts when possible to keep him fresh. He has ALWAYS pitched his best when rested and gets HAMMERED the third time through the lineup. To be able to skip some starts with him, the Reds need a guy to take the ball for 30 starts a year. We already have our #5 starter: his name is Eric Milton. For the sake of the missing pitching slot AND for the sake of Milton's performance now and down the road the Reds have to get a solid starter. Get on the horn with Kenny Williams ASAP.

Is there no chance that he'll void his option and become a free agent? I know he wouldn't make nearly as much money, but he can't like getting knocked around like this.

If he's going to get knocked around don't you think he'd rather make 8-9 million to do it instead of 3-5?

Absolutely, but a lot of people place a lot of the blame for his performace on the Reds ballpark. While I think the park's effect if overrated, I always feel like I'm in the minority on that one, so maybe he'd seek a larger ballpark and hope for better results.

If he doesn't start putting up better numbers, I look for him to be released if/when he excercises that option.

He is at best a 5 inning pitcher now if the Reds are going to make a run at it Narron must learn once the opposition has gotten through the lineup twice against Milton it's lights out.

Milton did leave the ball up on that pitch, but I agree that he should have been pulled by that point. I thought shipping Kearns out was supposed to solve this problem.

That is what I do not understand we trade for the bullpen help give up our offense and then do not use it
