Do you really think that would improve the game thread at Reds Live? Build a quality game thread and people will come.

I get the feeling that was a setup with Bernie Stowe's son being mentioned in the call. I liked it though even if it was. By the way, everytime I hear the Montgomery Inn jingle I wonder if they are still planning the location up north toward Springboro. Anybody know?

Rain Delay Memory:

1990, the last weekend of the regular season (Saturday), the Reds were in a rain delay with the Padres. I went to the bathroom and upon washing my hands, a person came up to me with a radio saying he heard the Dodgers lost which gave the division to the Reds! I went out of the bathroom jumping up and down and hugging my girlfriend (now my wife). The game was called but the players (Paul O'Neil) came out and did head first slides on the wet tarp covering the field. What a memory!

On the bright side, Harang can't get a loss. On the darkside, Standridge is in as the long man trailing by 4.

Why couldn't Harang get the loss? Sure he can. If the Reds never go ahead or tie it, he is the pitcher of record.

You have to pitch 5 innings to get the win but if you give up runs early and your team does not come back, you lose even if you do not pitch five innings. :(

Think of it this way.....if he would have gotten shelled for 7 runs in the 1st inning and was then yanked. He would be looking at a loss if the Reds didn't at least tie it up.

Wow, i didn't know Tom Hanks and Howard were there. That would explain why they were playing clips from Tom's movies during the rain delay. If I'd have know, I don't think I would have done anything about it, but it would have been cool to try to find him. Oh well, I'm at home now, so it doesn't matter. I thought about driving back up there, but 75 south still sucks probably.

Wow. Down 4 in the second. Two and half hour rain delay. Reds come from behind against the BEST team in the NL.....with the BEST offense....and the BEST bullpen. This turned into an awesome game from the way it started.

Tom Hanks is here??? I heard Marty say something about him getting a foul ball and he signed it and gave it to a fan, I didn't know that was this game.

So that really was him? I saw him but thought I was just seeing things. Wonder what Hanks and Howard are doing at a Reds game?

Man, I'm becoming a huge fan of Everyday Eddie. It's just nice to have a closer who can get the job done and with the intensity that he does it with. This pitching staff was in need of that kind of fire. A great acquisition by Krivsky.

Dunner44
07-20-2006, 12:30 AM
Well, now the Reds are 2-0 when I leave the game early, while they are merely 1-1 when I stay the game (that one loss was the Claussen/Mays debacle vs. Chicago... yuck). Maybe I should leave early every time I go.

fisch11
07-20-2006, 12:30 AM
Gotta love Eddie and how intense he gets. That kinda "fired up" attitude is what this bullpen needed. Thanks to everyone that stuck around for this great game, it was definitely worth it!

You know, as glorious as the Dunn grand slam game was on 6/30, this one may be my favorite win of the season. We had everything working against us, but battled back and got a big W.

Thanks for the answer everyone. Must be nice is right!

Huge come from behind win tonight for the team. We do have Arroyo on the mound tomorrow but we didn't want to be trying to avoid a sweep against Glavine, who just owns the Reds in his career!

I'm sure the Narron critics will find something wrong. ;)

Awesome win. Looks like Arroyo needs to have a long outing tomorrow. Majewski is available, and probably Coffey & Guardado.

I have to agree. It has to be tough to play a couple innings, go idle for a couple of hours, and then come back late in the night to finish a game. The Mets came out listless going through the motions while the Reds came out with more desire. You can't question this team's heart.

I almost agree. Except that I was at the Dunn game, so I can't! Heck of a game tonight though.

I'm not sure a bullpen of Yan, Hammond, et al could have done what the bullpen did tonight. Fantasy baseball wise, it was a bad trade. But, for this team in particular, it may actually turn out to be a really good trade. However, I won't deny that it has been tough to accept the loss of Lopez and Kearns.

And then add on the acquisition of Guardado and this team suddenly looks much more complete.
