Elbow Inflamation is the culprit according to Marc... when did this happen?

Probably a long time ago. Seeing as how Mercker's pitching is a huge downgrade from last season.....I wouldn't be suprised if he's been hurting for a good portion of the season.

didn't Shackleford stink when he was up here earlier?

Yep, 10 ER in 11.2 innings.

Shack will be a loogy. His splits against lefties are pretty good.

SPLIT AB H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS BAA OBP SLG OPS
vs. Left 28 4 1 1 0 2 2 1 6 0 0 .143 .226 .250 .476
vs. Right 20 9 1 0 3 8 5 0 3 0 0 .450 .560 .950 1.510

Just don't let him face any righties.

Mercker had been pitching well the last month too, it's a shame. Hopefully he'll heal up over the next few weeks and come back strong.

Very unfortunate, especially considering he was pulling out of a slump. It would be nice if the starting pitching would step up for the next week or two so he's not missed, but I don't exactly expect that.

Not looking forward to Shackleford being back on the mound at all.

Shack should be fine cuz I trust Narron wont leave him in longer than needed. Plus we got this stud named Bray that can come in and pitch lefties and righties.
