Clayton in the leadoff spot....fire away.

Cedric

Lineup construction usually doesn't fire me up that much, but Royce Clayton leading off is a bit odd.

Hopefully Freel isn't hurt worse than we thought.

It's not a good lineup, but we can win with it.

Well, with Dunn behind him Clayton will definitely get pitches to hit, time to see if he can prove it to Jerry.

Ok, I keep looking for some comfort in the lineup, but it really is just bad. I understand not wanting to put more pressure on Deno or Phillips by putting them leadoff, but I would think Hattie would be a better option than rolls.

Does Narron just pick these lineups out of a hat? More specifically, Rich Aurilia's hat?

Also, you just knew that as soon as Royce freaking Clayton was included in that trade that "Baseball Guy" would be running his dessicated corpse out there every damned day to donate four outs to the other team.

Today, he probably gets to make five.

Deno 8th is almost as bad as Clayton 1st. Protect the young kids, 8th is a tough spot and Ross should be in it.

Now EdE doesn't get to start against the lefty.

Fan-freakin-tastic.

That is because Hat is:

AB H HR OBP SLG AVG
15 5 1 .533 .353 .333

vs Davis (career)

even though he is:

AB H HR OBP SLG AVG
52 13 1 .359 .404 .250

vs lefties this year

...and of course we know Richie never gets a day off vs lefties even when he has poor splits. Can anyone say hypocritical? ...or at least maddingly inconsistent decision making?

Aurilia:

Ab H HR OBP SLG AVG
19 3 1 .316 .273 .158

vs Davis (career)

AB H HR OBP SLG AVG
97 35 9 .423 .753 .361

vs LHP

Maybe EE is still working on his D? The unreliable way he fielded while in at 3B is what has the team playing Aurilia.

Either way, EE earned it and so did Rich.

Very interesting.

I'll bet you a Hudepohl it means he's headed outta town, and we'll know of the details of the trade before our game comes to conclusion.

Even more interesting is the fact that Jason LaRue is out of the lineup tonight...

I sense a LaRue/Abreu swap. It just makes good sense for both teams.

You haven't seen Wayne Krivsky's Reds in many trade rumors this weekend. That's not to say the Reds aren't trying to make moves. They have one offer out on a player that would really signal a new era in Cincy, though it's unlikely to happen.

I have no interest in seeing BA on this team when what we really need is starting pitching...we have enough offense.

I for one LOVE the trade of Kearns and Lopez to the Nationals...I may be the only one but I like it because of what it does for this team immediately and I like it for what it can do for the organization this offseason as well as a couple years down the line.

Once Davis gets ahead he nibbles and tries to get guys out by having them chase. The key is hitting him is getting that good pitch early in the count. He is tough once he gets ahead in the count.

The key is he is a stopgap, there has been doubt as to whether or not Germano would cut it in the majors. I just want him to keep it close for six. I am not expecting him to be an average pitcher, but I sure would be happy with it.

7.50 doesn't cut it, period.

You pitch 6 innings and dive up 5 runs, your team will lose 80% of the time.

Germano could be next years Ramirez. I'm hoping he is. Hell, I'm hoping he's Ramirez this year. His K's have been impressive.
