He should be your starting SS for the rest of this year.
Or 2nd baseman with BP at SS.

EE/RA/BP/Hatte should start EVERY game.

Don't give any to FCB....he'll be at Miller Park wondering why it's empty

I was with Krivsky up until his debacle on July 13. But I'm not going to be stupidly and blindly supportive of a guy who just blew a hole in the hull of his own ship.

Winning record and a positive run differential.

I'll take it.

Thanks for the info. Didn't realize that.

In that case, he got the best deal he could get out of it, IMO. All I know is the Brewers are better than they were before the trade; and the Reds aren't.

Actually, that's why it was such a terrible trade. Lee made no secret of the fact that he wanted out of Milwaukee. Melvin knew this and his played his hand terribly. Trading a slugger at the deadline is going to net you a very questionable return...certainly less than the same deal would return during the offseason.

Regardless...rally caps anyone?

I will say this about Melvin, he can't be too smart if he hired Dan O'brien.

As long as DanO doesn't touch the major league operations and helps the minors, he'd be a welcome addition. But unfortunately, I think DanO does help with MLB operation with the Brewers. So yeah, that was an ill-advised move.

Jerry should be fired.

Right -- it was all his fault Ben Sheets looked dominant today, and it was all his fault that Aaron Harang decided to hit the wall at pitch 100 as opposed to usual 110-115 range.

The only bad decision he made, IMO, was letting Castro hit -- but that's hardly news that he gives Castro too many ABs.

Because that's what Harang does from innings 5-8: He labors, makes outs and keeps getting off the mat for more.

And, likely, because Harang told him that he still felt good.

And, likely, because Harang usually IS good for about 115 per start.

He's toying with the Reds (one of the best offenses in baseball) like a kitty with a mouse.

I think "used to be" needs to be palced before "one of the best..." in that statement. The trade cost us nearly a run per game based on small sample size. Replacing Kearns with Denorfia/Freel and Lopez with Castro/Clayton means you are minus 30 HR right off the bat and that's 30 runs no matter how you look at it.

Maybe it was his fault that EdE never plays and RA hits cleanup every game no matter who is on the mound. Look at the splits and tell me why RA hits 4th vs RHPs? Why Jr is hitting 3rd vs anyone? How long must we wait until Jr moves down in the order. I realize that both these guys hit HRs in the 9th, but enough is enough. How come Castro didn't get PH for? Maybe Sheets doesn't look as dominant if the order doesn't suck from the get go.

Aaron always huffs and puffs his way through games. That's his poker face. He always looks like he's in need of about 3 cases of Gatorade and a good sit down.

Yet, he usually comes up big in those spots late in games.

Milton, yeah, I'm with you -- get the hook regardless of pitch count.

If Harang had thrown 102 pitches through 8 innings and Jerry let him go out there for 9th it would be a different story. But Aaron had thrown 102 pitches thru 6 innings and had stranded multiple men on base the last 2 innings. He played with fire and got burned.

Fine question. He makes plenty of bad decisions in hindsight, in a game that requires 100's of decisions.

At the end of the day, it's more important to look at the big picture, and see the overall record of a team with one of the lower payrolls in the league, no pitching coach, and a AAA collection for a pitching staff.
